2nd payment
I know we need to send a 2nd (final) payment. Did I miss a reminder, or should I just send it to Ken now?
Looking forward to the Balloon Fiesta

Ken,
I checked my emails, and I couldn't find anything from you since Feb. 6, 2011 when you acknowledged my first check. Maybe I fell off your mail list, or the email Gods just put the hex on it.
I will send you a check tomorrow. Is this still the correct address:

Oh, my, we didn't receive any email about the rally, either! What should we do?

I got the email on 7/10. It was titled "Balloon Fiesta Update" and was from "Four Corners Unit".

I stand corrected....
I did get (but didn't read) the email that Zep referenced above. I guess I was looking for an email from Ken's account.
The checks in the mail.

Trip from the West
For the past 4 years many of us traveling from California and Arizona have spent the night before the Fiesta at the KOA in Grants, NM. Jan and I would stop in Flagstaff and join up with others traveling across I40 and head for Grants with a stop in Winslow for lunch at the La Posada Hotel.
Would others like to join us again this year? We have been giving thought to spending the night in Gallup at the USA RV park this year. The KOA is nice, but the rate is now $48+. The USA RV rate is $32 and it is a much nicer facility and if enough people are interested, we should be able to get our rate discounted by a couple of $$s.
If we stay in Gallup, the morning ride will be 2 hours as opposed to the 1 hour drive from Grants.
If you are interested, please post your preference for the overnight stay and we can start working on the details. We need to arrive at CW which is a little West of Albuquerque around 9am.

We can vouch for the USA RV. Very nice and they have a great barbecue.

Trip from the West
Richard; Dorothy and I are doing a "Change Up" this year. We are going to leave early, of course a lunch at La Posda in Winslow, a night at Holbrook, AZ. KOA. That will be the night of Tuesday 9/27/11. We have reservations for two nights (9/28 & 29) at Enchanted Trails RV Park. We will see you at Camping World. Looking forward to our third Balloon Fiesta.

Two things.... please please check your inboxes - most who have said they have not heard from us have later gone back and found our e-mail updates....
Second - if you all put something together for USA park, let me know, I know the owner and can call to see if I can get you all a special rate

Charlie-
Jan and I are looking forward to seeing you and Dorothy in Albuquerque. I have stayed at the KOA in Holbrook before and it is not on my top 10 list. I would drive the extra miles and stay in Gallup.
BTW, breakfast at the La Posada is very good if you get there early.

Maria and I stayed in Holbrook, too, one time. Not the most pleasant experience. Keep the pedal to the metal and head for Gallup!

The Gallup KOA does not get very good reviews: RV Park Reviews :: Gallup, New Mexico ( NM ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews
The railroad follows old Route 66 through Gallup and there are lots and lots of trains. We once stayed in a motel where the building shook every time a train went by. Be careful of the RR here and in Flagstaff too.
La Posada has a very good restaurant. It is an old Santa Fe RR Harvey House designed by America's first woman architect, Mary Colter. She did something not too common in the early 20th century—designed buildings that fit in with the land. The best is best seen from the RR side since that was where the people came in those days, not the Route 66 side. Colter designed it to look like a hacienda. The building is under long term restoration. It is worth seeing.

Count us in, we are not sure about the SOB folks traveling with us. One has jury duty.

Trip from the West
I see I forgot an "a" in La Posada, got it right this time. If we get there early we will try the breakfast. I'll take your advice and stop at USA RV, Gallup, NM.
Going to Albuquerque two days early this year. In the past two years after the morning balloon launch too much partying up at the camp and we never did get to do any sightseeing.
