Newbie vs grizzled veteran

By newbies I really meant a forum newbie. I have been mining the forums for over two years as we have gotten our safari into traveling shape, but you may have noticed my last message was my first post. I am a veteran (Vietnam)- not quite grizzled yet, and we are second generation streamers.

Looking forward to meeting fellow streamers. After Alumapalooza, we saw fewer than 20 Airstreams over almost 90 days of travel to the west coast and back.

Jim, you'll probably see that many at Highland Haven.

So, other than wine tasting(who is going to be the designated driver?) and pot luck, does anybody want to do anything else?

Wine Tasting - we COULD take one of the streams down to Chateau Morrisette and after we've sampled ourselves into a soused state sleep it off in the stream.

What else? There may be something going on in Floyd - Bluegrass music or at least a nice restaurant.

I believe we can pick apples from the trees on the hillside below the campground. Pie or cider? I personally just like to enjoy the scenery around the Blue Ridge. Of course Re-Pete will need to have his new toy inspected by a bona-fide Airstream maintenance Sr. Tech.

Sounds like lots of fun. Neither Phyllis or I imbibe so we can be the designated drivers and I've got a pickup so if needed we can stack the inebriated in the back like cord wood, right next to the apples.

I'm equally excited about my inspection, but I do have a question... Will that be before or after the winery tour?

For those that need any parts, I am again offering free delivery from ODM to the rally. Just call the parts people, and let them know to box it up for Terry to give you at the rally. I can put nearly anything, except axles and frames, in either Bertha or the truck.
I've also suggested to the parts manager it might be a good idea for me to bring along a couple of trinkets for door prizes.

Hey, y'all---can Yankees join in?

We will be in Pennsylvania Dutch country with grown kiddos the weekend before, would love to see some of you we've already met and meet and get to know those we haven't.

Sounds like fun, and a (small) mudslide would be yummy!

We have our Dutch Ovens with us, of course. Let's do some cooking!

Looking forward to it.

Smile Highland Haven get together

OK Paula you can count us in. Just talked to Gary there and made reservations. Can't wait to see some of the folks from the Spring Alumalina Rally at Carowinds and make some new ones. Did I hear correctly about winery nearby?? The Blue Grass jam sounds like icing on the cake.

Thank you. I just checked with the parts guys, and they say if I deliver to Virginia, there is no sales tax... Another incentive to purchase something you can't live without.

Maggie, you do know a small mudslide is kind of like a small nuclear bomb...

And you were able to remember the experience...

*note to self: mudslides not strong enough...*

Ahem, anyway, Marie will probably be joining us Saturday morning. It'll just be Sophie and I Friday evening.

No, no----you forget I have medication issues with alcohol. I need the low-octane version.

Doug & Maggie, I'm a grateful recoverin' Yankee myself. I now know that "Hail" is the ultimate abode of General William T. Sherman and that in the south Sh** is a 2 sylible word pronounced "Sheeee-it". Of course you are welcome. My sister Karen will be joining us - driving down from Ohio early Saturday morning and hanging out through half of monday. She's trailerless, but keeps threatening to get a Casita and "camo" it with aluminum foil!

Mudslides eh? can't say as I've ever tried one. I'll bring a thimble just to be careful. I have only three living brain cells left.
