More on Tybee Island

Tybee Island has been named the "#1 Healthiest Beach in America" by Health Magazine and "Readers Choice Best Beach" by Georgia Magazine. This barrier island boasts three miles of beaches of oat-covered sand dunes that are perfect for sunbathing and frolicking on the beach and in the surf. Now if the hurricanes will hold off everything will be just fine.

The manager for Rivers End Campground called me and said he was holding some sites until the first part of July and will then be releasing them to the general public. So if you want to take in some beach time it's best to make your reservation soon. Otherwise, if we see another Airstream in the park we will stop by and say hello.

Last Call for RV Spots AT Riverside Campground

All camping spots set aside will be released on July 19th. Tybee is a beautiful place to visit especially with Savannah so close by but thus far there has been very little interest with Airforums members. At any rate we will be there so if anyone shows up then great.

We are brand new to the forums and will be taking delivery of our "new" AS in August. Would love to be there but our son is starting Auburn University this fall and we had already planned on camping at West Point, GA on the lake for the holiday weekend. We will have to consider it next year.
Thanks Mike

I'd love to come, but we're going to be at Red Top Mountain that weekend. Darn!

Tybee fun

Tybee is a great place. Take your bikes, you can bike most of the island. Enjoy the lighthouse museum. Of course there is the wonderful beach. You can bike to it.

Red Top Mountain

We are still considering Tybee Island, I guess we had better make up our minds pretty soon! We just returned from Red Top Mountain in Georgia. Site 66 and 67 are both back in sites, rated green for 25' or longer trailers. We liked the quiet, centrally located sites, higher up on the mountain, but able to see the lake through the trees. They do not take site specific reservations so arrive early to get the best sites. We found a good fishing spot down the hill behind the Yurt. It was also an easy lake access spot for our old dog to go swimming. Some unusual rock formations in that area also. Load up with groceries ahead of time there is only a gas station convenience store nearby. Have fun.

Red Top Mountain sounds good. Will check it out at some point. Lots of good places to visit in Georgia but I haven't made it to most yet. We do like to explore around as time allows.

Savannah Craft Brew Fest, Labor Day Weekend

In addition to all the activities on Tybee Island, the Savannah Craft Brew Festival will be going with over 120 different craft brews at the Esplanade of the International Trade and Convention Center. Friday, September 3, beginning at 6m will be a food pairings dinner featuring live entertainment, the best of Southern cuisine and craft brews from across the United States. Then Saturday, from noon to 6m will be the craft brew tasting event, overlooking the Savannah River and beautiful historic Savannah, this outdoor event will feature 120 different craft brews. Sounds good to me!

Hey it's hard to beat cold micro brews in Savannah and the beach on Tybee Island! Maybe see you there. And by the way, we did have a great time at Disney World! Would love to go again. Appreciated you suggestions.

Tybee Island Experience

There were three Airstream Trailers in camp, a beautiful brand new 30' Silver Cloud, and a 27 or 30' International and our 27' Safari. River's End Campground was a good experience overall. They have good hookups with wireless internet, a nice pool, office with store and propane, and a very good group event structure that was perfect for rally social events. The campground is owned by the City of Tybee and with a Good Sams Discount comes to $36.00 per night. The island is small and was easy to get around on a bike, in fact that is the way to go. Lots of places to eat, drink, shop, with no chain restaurants that I could see. Good local seafood. Diesel is not available on the island but readily available just off island. We will be making plans next year for the October Pirates Festival and will sent out a message then.

Sounds like ya'll have a good time. I have been to the Priate's Festival and it is lots of fun! Would love to go this year, but work is preventing it. I hate when work gets in the way of life! Maybe can go next year. Hoping anyway!

2011 Tybee Island Pirate Fest Gathering

Keep the October date in mind for next year. Maybe we could join up and promote an Airstream gathering for the event in 2011. I need some ideas on how best to do that. Start gathering up yer pirate gear.
