Turkey Run Rally Fall 2011
We had so much fun at Turkey Run 2 years ago we are doing it again. A few of us have already reserved spots in the Shady Lane loop. Sites (157 to 183). There are plenty of spots left so please come join us! The sites around the inside of the loop are the best. Some of the outside sites are not very level.
For those who have not been there before Turkey Run is in Marshall Indiana about an hour north of Terre Haute. It is a very nice park with really cool hiking trails and beautiful scenery. If you like to hike this is the place for you. The trails are quite rugged in spots and will have you climbing rocks and sandstone canyons.
Reservations can be made on Reserve America or Indiana State parks website. The sooner the better since this is a popular park that sometimes fills up on weekends and they do not hold blocks of sites.

Reservation has been made. I'm coming late afternoon on Thursday.
Hopefully Mike & Erin will join us and make Dutch oven kettle corn for us again.

Great - we're in!
And we are looking forward to it. We've got a dutch oven too, but so far all I've made is stew - wanting to do a cobbler...

We have done the kettle corn a few more times and have a better handle on it again. (more heat than last time) We also have a new Dutch oven S'more desert that will rock the rally scene this year!!!! We however will not be able to attend this September. We are going to the Wilds rally, then we are hosting The Night of Destruction rally in Kalamazoo Michigan the weekend before and I think Erin will want to be home for weekend to rest.
I will share the recipie though. Roger will be able to handle it.
line dutch oven with foil
In this order layer into dutch oven
2/3 box crushed Grahm Crakers
1 stick butter melted
1 can sweetend condensed milk (pour over grahm crakers do not mix)
1 bag semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 bag butterscotch chips (Penutbutter chips are also great)
1 bag mini marshmallows on top
about 5 -6 coals on bottom, 10 - 12 on top
15 minutes
rotate every 5 minutes checking top of marshmallows till nice and golden
scoop into bowl with some ice cream!!!
OH MY GOODNESS!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Enjoy

Reservation made and hope to be there. Took site 7 which is just outside the official rally area. At the moment I'm arriving on Thu but might change to Wed since mcair is arriving then.

wow, just put this up this afternoon and we already have 6! I'll get an official rally page up tomorrow. Mike and Erin we will miss you, unless you change your minds. 3 weeks in a row isn't that bad! We will make sure that someone makes the smore dessert. It sounds wonderfully fattening.

The rally calendar page is done. So far I count 6 with 2 or 3 more not able to commit yet. Last time was fun even with the not so great weather. Lets hope this one has no rain.

We volunteer to do the S'more Dessert. Dessert is one of our favorites. Let us know how else we can help, we'll be in Friday.

Thanks Tina! The saturday potluck would be a good time for that. Did you finish the trailer? Can't wait to see it.

Well... no we didn't finish the trailer. Streamquest owns it now. It was just going to be in the garage way too long before we were going to be able to restore it and it deserves to be out and about, it's so cool. So, the CW is on the east coast in Massachusetts. We now have a new to us 1959 Avion. We've only had it for 3 weeks now. There are photos and info about it in the Vintage Kin section under "1959 Avion". We also have a photo album with the photos in it in the photo gallery.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

There are only five sites remaining in the entire loop. If you're planning on attending you better make a reservation fast.

2 weeks from today we leave for turkey Run! Yay! Just checked the website and the entire campground is booked for the weekend. Anyone who still might want to come will need to look for cancellations. Roger's looking at his new dutch oven books and may be bringing the turkey fryer. Time to start talking food! What sounds good to everybody?

Have confirmed the fryer is coming with us. We will be frying a turkey for the Saturday potluck. Roger says it is about time that we have a turkey at Turkey Run!

Ha Ha! Roger is right :-)
We are still in for doing the s'mores! Yum. We'll come up with something else... not sure what - since you're doing a turkey, maybe something with sweet potatoes and pecans? My brain isn't ready to think about "fall" foods. I'll be back with some ideas...
