Trout Lake -> maiden voyage
Hi, I plan on being there as well. I hope there will be spots for us all ! I am finishing the belly pan today and then moving on to putting the interior back in later this week. The AS may not be 100% functional, but it'll be there.
Do we have spots held for us ? or is there a person up there I should call ?
Just curious.
Chris

The park doesn't take reservations, but last year Janet said there were a ton of empty spots, so we shouldn't have to worry. The first post in this thread has the campground name and contact info.

Janet is traveling back from a gig in Victoria BC, so I'll let you all know.
We'll be there with bells on.
Chris hope you make it. I've been following your trials and tribulations on the trailer, can't wait to see it.
We have a gig on the Friday, so we will be in about noon Saturday with the band.

Great
JH, cool. Looking forward to having a weekend off from working on the AS and actually taking it out !
Sheph, I will take a look at the start of the tread. Didn't even think of looking at the beginning ! lol. I may be up Friday night, not sure about that yet.
Sounds like there will be spots for us. Hopefully we can all be pretty much in the same area.
Chris

They are "unofficially holding sites 15, 18, 19 & 20. Some of those sites will hold more than one rig. And yes - I guess it's fcfs. The forums "Parkgurl" is the park attendant there.

Trout Lake
Well, I just found you guys today. We live in Battle Ground and have been wanting to go out with some other Airstreams owners but are already busy on every one of the dates planned for the Northwest so far this year. We live in Battle Grond and are going to try to make it to Trout Lake. Have a Chevy Pick up and a 1978 31 foot. Hope there is room. On the other hand, we have had trailers for over 30 years and will be fine if we have to camp down the road in the forest. Hope to meet some of you next month.

Welcome to the forums.....
and look forward to meeting you at Trout Lake! We are a fun group and like to have a laid back experience. Nothing planned but evenings around a fire sharing laughs! Too bad you didn't hear about our GTG in Battle Ground SP in April.
See you in Trout Lake!

Our Safari is ready to hit the road! Would love to make this our second official outing (the first being the weekend before). Work schedules permitting, we'd show up on Friday. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

We are anxious to meet you and see your vintage AS and truck. We're getting a good response to this mini-rally......I think that makes us a group of six AS's so far. We may show up Thursday pm to give us an extra day to take in the area before the Festival.

Looks like an interesting group. It is a small world indeed. I see people coming from almost everywhere that we have lived over the last 40 years. Hows this, Pasco, Seattle, Everett, Ellensburg, Walla Walla, Spokane, Cannon Beach, Beaverton and now Battle Ground. Will be interesting to see some new country. Doesn't look like Trout Lake is on the way to anything. See you all there.

Sounds like there are some neat short hikes nearby. I have been waiting a couple years to get over that way to try this one
Sleeping Beauty Peak
And there is a very short hike to a very nice waterfall. The trail description doesn't have a picture, but I've seen pictures in hiking books
Langfield Falls
Hoepfully we'll find time to take in these natural wonders while we're out that way. If we don't we'll just end up hanging around camp, chattin' and eatin' as usual!

We need a plan
It's almost time and we need a plan. Some folks are coming in on thursday, some on friday and some saturday. We are coming in Saturday and can bring the big stove. So here's what I propose for Saturday and Sunday AM.
Saturday night....
BYOM BBQ. We will bring a grill, plates, utensils, condiments and a big potatoe salad. If you are bringing hot dogs or burgers, please bring buns as well.
Corn on cob, munchies - Mel
Dessert - Jordandvm
Beverages - Supply your own and a little extra to share.
Sunday AM:
Eggs, ham, potatoes - Janet and Gary
Coffee - Steph
Juice - ?
On edit: - BYOM = bring your own meat!
We may stay sunday night - haven't quite figured that out yet.....

We could provide some desert for Saturday evening (if anyone's still hungry)!
Do you know the address of the CG? Must not be hard to find in a town of 500 population. BTW, "Parkgurl" is no longer a member of these forums......is this person in charge of the CG? We'll be arriving sometime Thursday. We're leaving this Thursday, going to Central Oregon to take in the Sisters Quilt Show (not doing the rally) and check out some other areas in Central Oregon we haven't seen. Then work our way north on 97/26 thru Warms Springs and probably stay in Hood River area for a few nights. We also wanted to check out some of the wineries near the Dalles on the WA side. While in the Trout Lake area, it would be fun to drive up to the Mt St. Helens interpretive area, if it's open. I hear there's more rumbling lately in the crater .
With the Arts festival, AS rally, and scenic trails, there appears like there's plenty to do!!

Here are 2 maps to the park. There is no address but there are a few signs on the way. Park attendants name is LaRae - her phone is written on map 1. Site # 15 has elect - or it can be run from the bath house - not sure which. She says to call her when you get in and she can run power if needed. The park is easy to find. Here is a map to the festival - it also gives you a good idea of town layout.

We will be there on Friday. Trout Lake is close to Goldendale, where my in-laws live, so they may come up and camp nearby in their SOB. (Speaking of Goldendale, Jim, Maryhill winery is there - here's a link if you're interested: http://www.maryhillwinery.com/)
How does corn on the cob sound for Saturday dinner? We'll also bring lots of beverages and afternoon snacks. Can't wait to meet all of you! Let me know if there is anything else we'll need to bring.

The maryhill winery is a good side trip. you might also want to check out the maryhill museum - if you're going to bee over that way - the grounds ar lovely and so are the Rodins and peacocks. There is a nice campground nearby -can't remember the name - but its at the foot of the bridge tha crosses the river. Corn sounds fab - i'll add it to the list. (See earlier post)

Good news - we are going to be joined by Jerry and Leta who are beginning a restoration of a Caravel (I think). They have an incredibly cute teardrop and are going to need tours of rehab projects!
