Hi Neil,
Great! You'll make number 8. The 10 sites we blocked off are all full hook-up sites. As long as site are available we can book more as needed.
Sequoia RV Ranch also has partial hook-up sites. They have a mobile 'honey wagon' and there is a dump station that is no more that 100 yards from any site.

We are trying to work a way to attend your rally and do some sight seeing in Sequoia Nat Park. Maybe like 3 nights with you then some camping in the National Park. It's been a while since Lynn and I were there....before kids....our oldest just turned 42 and we tent camped back then. So any suggestions to camping in The Park....trailer friendly roads etc?

Neil

Neil, so glad you and Lynne will be joining us!

I would not plan on taking the trailer into the park, at least from this side. There is a very short length restriction, I think our F-250 barely qualified. It's really geared towards tenters. If you leave your trailer at the campground you can drive up from there, it's about 7 miles to the entrance. There is a $20 fee to enter the park, but I believe that is for a 7 day pass. Unless you have a senior's pass, the it's free! From there it is quite a drive up a twisty turny mountain road to get up to where the trees are.

We drove up and spent the day hiking and exploring last time we stayed in Three Rivers. It was Valentines Day weekend, the weather was lovely at the campground, but up at the trees there was about 3 feet of snow! It was beautiful

Thanks, Lianne. I did some online research and discovered the same. As I mentioned we visited there and Kings Canyon more than 40 years ago. Since we were pup tent camping I do not recall or paid attention to how it would be to tow a trailer to there. Back then 'It was the journey that was magical'.....now as I am not into a lot of driving, 'It's the destination that needs to be magical'. We have not yet decided yet....we kinda want to....2014 spring is going to be busy for us.

See you at JRRV.
Neil

P.S. National Park entry fee is FREE for us 'seasoned' travelers.

Gosh, how did all the big Class A busses get in there to camp at Dorst CG? Is the road from Three Rivers CG different from the main road into the park? We really wanted to camp there this fall and hike into Mier Grove and all the other great hikes in the park.

Wonderful, Suzzeee! I can't wait to see your new AS!
We got you down at site #23. That puts us at 9 trailers.

I think there's a white box trailer in the middle of our group in the river sites. I think #33. We should try to convert them, although, I don't think it would be difficult.
Also, I would advise against reserving site #35, the dump station is almost directly in front. It's not particularly busy but I just wanted to give a heads up.

They either came in from the north, or they passed this sign.

Hey Cara: Sherry and I were all set to make your rally. Called the campground, picked out a site, etc, ready to book and discovered it conflicted with a trip to Carmel Highlands Inn same week. We were both unhappy and were very much looking forward to your gig. We will be there for sure the following year if this is an annual party.

Great to see you at Kernville, and all the other gang.

Robert

Hey folks,
I called Sequoia RV Ranch today. There are still a some sites open in the main rally area. This is a smaller campground, so no matter where you are, you won't be far from the action. If you want to go, get on it!
Also, I found out that Lori at the front desk no longer works there. That's disappointing. She was very accomodating and was excited for our group to be there. Hopefully our new contact will be easy to work with too.

three rivers rally

Hey Cara, Just wanted you to know that your rice pilaf is what got me home from the Kern. It was sooo good. The week of your rally conflicts with my birthday. Not that I have a whole lot of plans right now, but you never know. I think that I will call the park and see what is left on river and if I get refunded if I have to cancel. This last Kern trip was the best in the last five years. Just my opinion. Kenny

Kenny,
I'm glad you liked the pilaf! If you don't come to Three Rivers, I'll have no one to harrass. Besides, can you think of a better way to spend your birthday? I would even consider changing the name to Kenny's Birthday Rally.
You can cancel a reservation 7 or more days prior without penalty.
