It is a gift exchange. To participate you must bring a wrapped gift no names. Then through a process of site numbers pulled from a hat you are given a gift you then open your gift for all to see! The next person pulled from the hat does the same thing. However People are allowed to steal a gift from anyone else and giving there gift to that person. See previous years of explanations in the past rallies. We have had gifts, everything from a roll of duct tape to electrical tape, flamingo items food drink etc! It's great fun and the rules change depending on how much the promoters have had to drink of holiday spirits!!

basically a white elephant gift exchange with a twist one wrapped gift per site . you hope to be first or last name to be drawn so you get the prize gift 'they range from great to duds, lots of flamingo or airstream things. there is always a couple of things that everybody wants so if you get a great gift expect it to be stolen many laughs and great fun. dirty santa probably came from the getting our treasure stolen and taking the dud gift the thief has in exchange dirty doesnt mean naughty as we have youngsters there Kay

Wink gift exchange

Okay I will explain the Gift Exchange.
Seeing as how this is a Christmas Rally, we have a gift exchange. each campsite brings a present it's put in a pile. Peter puts everyones name in his hat and draws them out one at a time. Lora reads the name drawn and selects a gift. The person who's name is called, opens the gift, then decides if they want to keep it or trade for something else that has already been opened. since no.1 has no one to trade with when all get a gift, no.1 gets to decide if they want to still keep the gift they Now have or trade it for something that someone else has and they do.
That is all there is to it.
Don't know how it got the name Dirty Santa. but that's what we now call it and it can be pretty fun.okay got it now.
And as I said before the gift should be something you yourself would like to receive as ,you may indeed be the one to go home with it.

Blanco Christmas non rally/rally 2012

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the rally! Deb has posted in post #108 the agenda for this years rally. If some of you guys are new at this, you might want to check it out. We generally fly by the seat of our pants for this rally! We are all very flexible!! Dennis and I ae leaving tomorrow for the park, looks like we will have some great weather so we may not need the pavillion. We'll keep you posted if this changes! See everyone soon.

I'm all for gifts and the sort, but I think I would be pretty sour if I opened a roll of electrical or duct tape.

So here is the deal. Real Ale Brewery has been selling their coffee porter very quickly. As a result, we are unable to get any for the rally. However, they have plenty of other cold wet beer! Skye and I will pick up, on Thursday, an 8 gallon jug of Brewhouse Brown Ale. It will be available for all. I do recommend you bring a cup because you look silly at a keg drinking from your hands. Please all remember this is a State Park. The Rangers do have a job to do so let's not make them mad at us.
This is our donation to the party. We had a blast last year and want to pay back. Writing this from McKinney Falls State Park where we have been since Saturday. Heading over to Blanco sometime tomorrow. Maybe we will see some alumimum along the way?

Yes Chuck..I know this, and have played White elephant, Rob your neighbor, and Dirty Santa several times. Perhaps it is just my own personal feelings on gift giving in general that I wouldn't bring such an item to begin with. Since I planned to have Collin to be the one getting the gift, I don't think the silly gifts like that would go over well. Just my opinion.

Oh yes Bruce. Skye is ready for you. We intend to bribe the judges heavily. (-:
I hope to win a bottle of tequila.

Question restless gatecrasher

Mary,
In the greatly unlikely event that I was to show up Friday eve or afternoon...what would I need to bring ?
Guess folding chairs a must..?
I would be sans RV but most likely have wife & daughter along.
Daughter still big time believes in Santa. Would she still after the rally?

Now change above question to what if I was to show up Saturday instead?

Where is a schedule of events (subject to change, I know) (which post)?
[EDIT: I just read Mary's link to Post # 108..]
I've got to be over at Lago Vista one day this week or week-end so it would be impossible to RSVP as my plans are not quite cooked as of yet.

Any chance cabins still available?

thanks

I'm replying for Mary, if you come Friday you don't need anything but chairs we'll be providing the dinner for Friday. Saturday is potluck, there will be lots of food so if you won't have your AS don't worry. Saturday is also the dirty Santa, us girls always have a couple xtra gifts just in case so all have one. Your daughter is more than welcome. I put up an agenda maybe 10 or 12 post back.

Well Hell. Once again - work (which is paying for the Airstream) trumps fun (which is why I bought the Airstream). I am not going to be able to head out tomorrow for the rally after all. I have a spot in the park reserved and will call in the am to cancel it. It's reserved starting tomorrow/THUR. So who wants it? And does anyone know how we switch it over to someone? Do I just tell the park office folks who is taking it instead? Holler at me if you want the spot, so I can help get you in there. And y'all have some extra fun for me! Hope to see you soon. Merry Christmas!!
