Heading to the coast and enjoying this impromptu potluck first, I am having a good time. I picked up some cookies for later and a favor for each of us. Paula and Steph, I am eating too much but it's wonderful. G. where's the next trip for you?

Carol, yummy cookies and so fancy! Late March or early April, we'll head to Dauphin Island, one of the barrier islands just off Mobile Bay in the Gulf. It was really hard hit by Katrina and Rita, but we think the island campground will be okay now. It's on the east end of the island; the west end was almost cut off by wave action and many many beach homes reduced to stilts or completely gone. This is a major shrimping area, one of the places where wild shrimp are caught and sold in the US. We are hoping to find that the industry is still intact after the hurricane damage. I'm hoping we can go northwest or northeast this summer/fall. I've never been in the Maine-NovaScotia area nor have I seen Oregon-Washington-British Columbia. Then we just made reservations at John Pennekamp SP in the Keys for the first 2 weeks of January, '09. Yea! I'm hoping we can at least dip in to the Can Opener on our way down. This is all pretty audacious for us to plan, considering the age/health of my mom and of course the health of Steve, our son who lives with us. A girl just has to plan and hope for the best!~G

Such Culinary Talents you all have! And the cookie and chocolate finds Carol are scrumptious.

Wonder if Laura is back yet? - She does not like us talking food So get it in quick I like talking food - cause I don't cook too often....lots of great ideas here.... Made Texas Chili last night - still smokin' today never again!!

But you can all count on me to bring the drinks..... Here is the latest in our choice of pallet teasers..... Annie & Marvin found it at their wine making place.

I am heading Wednesday to start a batch for us. We normally make our wines at home - but this one is a special order and very hard to find apparently so I will let the experts make it and I will just do my dutiful stir to make it officially "make your own"

Chocolate Raspberry Port.

Carol that almost looks like a sand storm - on the beaches near Atlantic City....or could even be close to Corpus Christie.

Just need some more to drink to help the imagination and warm the bones through and through....

But then just imagine how much snow you really could have.... Click image for larger version

Hole-Y snow Sharon! You're a hardy soul up there in the frozen NorthEast. Maybe we need a new motto...we can tow it but we do need passable roads, LOL!

Thought I would give you some pictures from the Lunar Eclipse. These were taken with my new camera I just got yesterday!!! I know they arnt great, but I was leaving our sn weekly Strike Team Meeting and I got my camera out and started snapping! The small star to the lower left that you may see in some of these pictures is really the Planet Saturn. Sorry some are out of focus and Blurry, I was so cold, my hands were shaking LOL! Not me, I was opening the patio door and snapping then closing the door. You must have froze! That is a mark of a true photographer. You suffer to get the shots. It will be nice to see what other pictures you take.

Wow Laura - Nice catch - fabulous photos - what zoom do you have?

Hope you had a nice time away - sounds like you did, having lots of nice food... We have lots of snow - but not that much in the picture - I was messing around in photoshop - - had just finished a 3-4hour clearing of the driveway and felt like the banks were that high - but really they are only about 3'. But with the rain on the weekend we are down to about 2 feet and very icy. I agree spring summer and fall is a much nicer time to camp

Well Cody Bear big congratulations - It looks like 2008 is the "Grand (and Great Grand) Silver Sister Granny Year" Will we see ceramic baby bear bedside lamps emerging from your collection of art??

PS Brock and Laura - good job on that last stack of wood - we still have some to keep the fire going My turn next - have just the batch to get us through to Spring.....

Great first pictures, Laura! I was a wimp & watched the eclipse from the window. I don't do cold weather unless there's powdery slopes involved

Sounds like some congratulations are in order soon, Paula! How excited you must be!

Thanks everyone, I really dont think they are that good, but better than nothing!

Paula, Congratulations! Ill stay tuned thats for sure!

Sharon, I had a 10 x Zoom on my camera, and its a 7.2 Megapixel. I just got it, whats so funny, is that the camera is so small too.
