Thank you all foryour kind words and thoughts. Our little Lila made her way to heave this morning around 11:15am. I cant even begin to tell you the pain I feel right now. When I think I cant cry anymore, I cry, the tears are like an endless river. I loved being an Aunt, it was the best thing in my life. I spent a lot of time with her, and I thank God for that, but I still feel it wasnt enough. She was the happiest baby I have ever seen. It hurts so bad to look at pictures of her right now, seeing what I had going in my life, and it was taken from me too soon. How can a person go from the happiest day of your life, to the sadest, in 3 months? This rollercoaster of my emotions is taking a toll on me. I sleep, but I dont seem to sleep long enough, whenever I wake the tears start again. I have so many regrets, and I try to think about the blessings in our life. The blessings bring some comfort. I feel im still in shock, so If I dont make sense, that is why. She was so perfect, and she was the best thing that has ever happend to me! I feel as though I have lost my own child, because that is what she was to me. I watched her 2-3 days a week, and saw her almost everyday. It hurts so bad, my whole family is just a wreck. They had flown Lila to the hospital, and my sister is not going to be able to afford the bill for it. If anyone even wants to help, Im going to take donations for my sister and brother-in-law to help pay for Lila's bills. If you would like to donate, please email me at kc8juz@hotmail.com and I will give you the information. Thank you all, and please pray for our family. Ask God to put his hands on my family, and to give us peace.

My daughter sent this to me a little while back and I found it encouraging so when I came across it tonight I thought I would put it up here to share with all my silver sisters but particularly for Laura.

God doesn't give you the people you want, He gives you the people you NEED - To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be.

Dear God:
The lady reading this is beautiful, classy and strong, and I love her. Help her live her life to the fullest. Please promote her and cause her to excel above her expectations. Help her shine in the darkest places where it is impossible to love. Protect her at all times, lift her up when she needs you the most, and let her know when she walks with you, She will always be safe.

Wondering if anyone can help me with some pointers.

I am looking at heading to Philadelphia and wanted to stay in my Airstream instead of a hotel ha of course - does anyone know of a campground that is within say 1/2 hour 40 min drive of downtown???

Anyway if anyone might know of where I might be able to stay that would be great. I am looking at the weekend and a few days ahead and behind 24-25 April if possible.

Church or some other parking spot would be fine boon docking even - worst case scenario I could do the Wal-mart parking lot if there was one....in the down town area...?

Any hints would be much appreciated.

We are still doing fine away from the snow - taking it easy weather is getting better now. I am being eaten alive by no-see-ums seems they really like me and hmmm I scratch too much!@!! Hey Carol it rings a bell with your feet in that dish tub at RiverRidge But I could not fit my whole body in a dish tub unfortunately.

Playing a bit of golf now - Taz is going for longer walks and doing great Haily is starting to drop an ounce or two on the new food and her infections are clearing up nicely.

Have not had any update garage photos from Peter - but the trusses are all done and the metal roof is now delivered.

The parents have moved into their new condo in Lakefield and are already happy in their sunny living room.

All is great!!! except for my bug bites me too is great tee hee....

Just wanted to let you know we got the Silver Princess back and I have a new blog and pictures up on www.Humzoo.com/reera
I painted all day yesterday and her interior is beginning to look good. The new electrical stuff and plumbing will be going in next week as well as her bearings being greased(don't we all need a little grease job for our joints?)Lots of odds and ends to deal with.
I leave tomorrow for a one week Watercolor Workshop at the beautiful Kanuga Episcopal Camp in Hendersonville, NC. This will be a week or renewal and peace for me plus the opportuinty to see other wonderful artist friends and to paint and paint. Also get to do some paddling, walking and photography. A week with minimal contact from the "real world."
I hope you all have a good week, spring is finally here so I bet you all are anxious to get out and do some RV'ing. Take care and I will talk to you when I get back. Dannie

Hey Sweet Laura - just wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you.

Just checking in. Having some really nice weather now - getting in some golf, some kayaking and some social events with the local ladies here. I am moving sites on Wednesday and have my last stint of 10 days and then I have to vacate the park for 2 nights - so may try the KOA or the other state park for a weekend - then I will be doing the site hopping for the last week - give me lots of practice of set up and take down with backing in and out ha ha - but I just would prefer to stay at this camp it is really clean and nice people and I am so familiar with where everything is here on the island and close to friends I have made here. So instead of living out of my ModPod I will have to treat her as camping for a week tee hee.

Dannie your pics look great of the Princess - she is coming along - before you know it she will be a jewel for sure and you will be enjoying camping in her.

YES Dannie I would love to stop in to see you. My plans have firmed up now for my travel home - I am skipping the idea of going to Philly - and I would like to see a bit of the mountains before I go home - so I am departing on the Easter Monday - Not sure if you will be home for Monday 13 & Tuesday 14th, I would plan to leave on Wednesday 15th sometime. Would that work for you if you would be so kind as to have a weary somewhat homesick snowbird???

Driving in downtown Philly with an Airstream sounds like a huge nightmare! Hell, downtown Philly itself is a nightmare

I posted 2 pics of my new bath in the Airstream. They're in my thread for those of you who want to see! It's a 54" mobile home tub. Veeeery sexy. The drain is brass to go with my antique shower, though you can't see it in those pictures. My dad took like 15 pictures of the outside and just 3 of the inside!

So the contractor thinks he can finish it in May. My apartment lease is up late July, so I am planning to move into the Airstream at the beginning of July and get things underway. I'll be staying in the city until late fall - then it's on to the open road!

Wow Brock - your baby is looking really cool and your design ideas are fab...you will have quite the little den of inequity running the roads

Now mind you she ain't LITTLE - the pic you posted compared to what I am living in right now seems like a palace - what are you going to pull her with - have you decided yet?

Where do you intend on heading out on the road???? All sounds like lots of adventure.

I will get a taste of hooking up and moving on a daily basis in a few weeks. Then I will see if I like to do it out in the big road.

I really sort of like getting where I am going and staying put for a while - I think it gets a bit much packing and unpacking all the time. But we shall see. Maybe that is why everyone goes for the bigger trailer and bigger TV the less packing you have to do I suppose with everything in its accessible place.

So I will have to get myself sorted out here with the bare necessities - so for now I am having early lunch - left over pizza ha cold out of the fridge

I was about to have a shower but they turned the water off at the camp her to do some testing ha just my luck - starkers in the shower and no water Lovely day - but the day at the beach yesterday had both me and Taz walking a bit too much so we are very stiff today - so we will sit in the sun and just read a book and pack up later to move sites in the morning - then head out to the golf course...

Hey Sharon, I'm back from my week at Kanuga and yes, we would love to have you stop and stay with us. The church next dfoor has given us permission for you to park there and you and your critters are welcome to stay in the house with us. Just call me and confirm that you are coming. If you lost my number just pm me and I'll send it. My computer passed away this past week. I have a new one but I am having a hard time getting the wireless modem to work so I have to use R.'s which means I will probably only check once a day until we can work out these glitches. Drive safe, the Princess should be close to being ready when you get here so you will get to be our first guest.

Hi Dannie - how was your R&R time - are you nice and refreshed?

My firm plans have un- firmed up tee hee...I am once again leaving later than sooner. So not totally sure if I am leaving now on the 16th or the 21st but will figure it out soon enough.

At this point all I know is that I am packing up on the 3rd and heading to Mertyle Beach for 2 nights cause this park is kicking me out on the 28 day policy - I don't mind. I am coming back for the Cajun Festival and may stay for the big Kayak/Canoe show on the weekend of the 21 - so that is sort of what is now holding up my decisions tee hee.

So off to do some groceries.

Wow this AC compressor really packs a whollop when it kicks in....I thought it was the awning in the wind but nope... was a bit stuffy and the little vent lids were taking a beating in the wind. It was laundry and extra cleaning and grooming day today.

so Dannie I will be in touch with you when I better know what my dates are - but I am planning to head your way so I would not miss the opportunity to stop by and would love to meet you and your Husband.

Where is everyone?

Well Silver Sisters... where are y'all? We are back from Texas and it is still cold here in Peterborough... cold for us that is... keeping the furnace set very low at nite to prevent freezing.. unable to find RV antifreeze. Won't be too much longer and it will be above freezing at night. Sharon, are you on your way home yet? Carol, how goes the new jobs for you and Brad? Hello to all ...

Howdy stranger!!!

I am on my second last night here Tuesday night will be my last and I am pulling out on Wednesday before noon to head to Dannies in NC for either 1 or 2 nights - I plan on being home late Friday night or the wee hours on Saturday morning. I will run straight home from NC taking my time with frequent stops.

It has been 2 weeks almost since I have posted - I was up at Myrtle beach for 5 days without internet and back here in and out of different sites because of Easter weekend and even spent some time out in the field with the Honda Generator.

I have been playing with photos and just finished making an omelet for a late dinner because Terri and I had a really late lunch at California Dreaming - a really great restaurant on the water. We are having a couple of rainy days right now but should be better by Wednesday.

Taz is doing really great and got her green light from the Vet to go home so we are just spending the last days to hold out for the warmer temps at home!!! Peter said they had 6 inches of snow the other day but with milder temps it melted as well they had rain just before you got home.

I will turn skype on if you have skype and we can chat for a bit if you want???

Hi there D - yes I have your address and phone number. I will need to mortgage my house at the amount I have paid in phone bills I have some talking to do to Ma Bell when I get home - I could have bought a vintage trailer with the likes of my phone bills down here!!!

I look very much to meeting you on Wednesday. The weather is to be nice so not sure if you want to do a bit of Yaking on the Thursday - I am having problems with my straps and they keep coming loose so I think I will have to duck tape them for my trip onto the interstates. I have not done very much Yaking - the weather really has not been that cooperative - and the days that are nice I have or had to move sites which does put a bosh on the day. It has been very cold mostly and windy and my back water kayaks are just not cut out for the ocean. Something I will have to plan better next year.

I have done more riding though - and now that Taz has done well in her recovery we have been going to the beach more too for long walks and let the girls swim.

Haily drank half the ocean on Saturday then promptly threw it up in the back of the truck - now my truck stinks and it is pouring with rain here and I will not have a chance to some how clean it - I need to get one of those little green machines So not sure if I will have time Wednesday morning to take care of it before I leave.

Well I am working on some photos right now to give to my friend on a G-Stick - pictures of our day at the beach with her boys and the three dogs. So I better get going.

Here is a shot of a sunrise at Myrtle Beach last Saturday..

See you Wed sometime - I will touch base with you when I am on the road - with a quick call at some point. Please do not count on me for any specific time - I just never know when I am traveling with the girls how many stops they want... worse than kids I bet!!!

Hello all

I Have not posted in a very long time. We still need the camp fire here, it sure has been a cold April so far.

We were gone with the Silver Dog House from the first of February until the middle of March. We are thinking that we should have stayed longer in the sunny, if not always hot or even warm south west.

We started with a week in and around Austin Texas, so we could visit our elder daughter, who is in graduate school at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the South West (ETSS). We stayed in two different Texas state parks that were quite nice if expensive for our taste.

Then we spent most of a week at Padre Island at the National Seashore. Husband and I both loved it. It had been decades since I had seen the Gulf of Mexico. As a child we spent winter vacations on the Florida side. My husband had never spent any time on the gulf and found it very interesting and enjoyable. The beach was unfortunately extremely dirty in comparison to my pasat experience. We were told the worst of it had been cleaned up but that there was still a lot left over from Hurricane Ike. Husband was not however happy with the corrosion we found on the trailer, when we washed the salt spray off at a car wash, on our way off the island. So to my sorrow he says no more camping on Padre Island or the ocean at all.

I know there are other Airstreamers who camp regularly on Padre Island. One we met there told us to be sure to wash the trailer at the car wash before we left the island. Is there anyone out there who camps regularly on the ocean? How do you take care of, or prevent the corrosion caused by the salt? I have a sneaking suspicion, that it was the road salt from the drive down through winter and not the ocean. Does anyone have any ideas on that? Oh that reminds me. Our scond night out on the way south in February we found a state park in Oklahoma where the host was the only other person in the park. When we pulled in it was nearly dusk. The hostess turned on the lights in the restrooms for us and we had Hot showers. We also had water hookup and washed the trailer that night. We did a touch up in the morning and had sheets of ice forming, but the road salt was off. Man Oklahoma was cold, we had been hoping for warm by then.

From Padre Island we went west to Big Bend National Park. Again we ran into hurricane Ike damage. There had been serious flooding of the Rio Grande which had done a lot of damage to both campgrounds on the river. The geology and geography of the park are fascinating. We will definitely go back again.

Our next stop was in the Coronado National forest in south east Arizona. We returned to a campground we found last year and stayed much longer this time.

From there we spent time in both Saguaro Nation Park and Organ Pipe National Monument. The desert biology is fascinating. And ohhh the hummingbirds were beautiful We actually got three extremely hot days, low 90s, while at Organ Pipe. But fortunately it always cools of at night in the desert. The desert is beautiful I guess because it is so different from home. But the plants can be dangerous. The dog got into a cholla and it took some effort to free him of the spines. Husband got hooked in the process.

While in the Tuscon area we visited the Pima Air and Space Museum. Then we discovered another beautiful campground in the Chiricahua mts and stayed there several days. On the way back east we went through White Sands National Park and camped on top of a mountain in the Lincoln National Forest near a small mountain town with the descriptive name of Cloudcroft east of Alamagordo. It was very much still winter there. Cold and lots of snow. the dog loved it. And the price was right. Free, in a national forest recreation area parking lot. Our departure from the sunny south west took us through Roswell.

We camped in a lot of Wal-Mart parking lots between destinations. Some were noisy and at least one we had all to ourselves and was very quiet.

Once we got home we wished we had stayed another month - but I was expected back at work. So here we are with snow still in piles and on the north side of slopes, and freezing temperatures every night and only in the 40s or maybe low 50s during the day. BRRRRR!!! But it is time to clean up the yard and get the garden season started.

Thanks for such a great travelogue. Having grown up nearby in Waterford, Michigan I can remember those long snowy winters. I would have stayed out another month too! Well maybe next year!

Sharon, We can put your kayak in the back of the truck and spend sometime on Belews Lake. Hope its not real windy. I haven't been out in a month due to my travels, grands and the biggie -the weather but it looks hopeful for Thursday! We wil see you when you get here! Can't wait!

Hello Sisters,

Ike and I have been in Gulf Shores, AL since Feb. 18 and plan to mosey on back to MI Thurs. am. No hurry, with a stop or two along the way. Not sure where yet.

It was good to re-new after the ordeal with my MIL's illness. There are boxes of her things waiting for us to go through when we get back. I don't like hearing about the cold in MI lingering but that might just give us some time to do that sorting before the really nice weather arrives.

Sharon, glad Taz is doing well and that you've had a nice break also. Peter must be quite lonesome for his girls. Please say I said, "Hi", will you? And the above pic is gor-g-us!!! You are so talented (you and Carol too).

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter as did we. (no ham but the grilled NY strips where yummm)

Will try to pick up on the forums after we get back.

Hugs to all from Gulf Shores,
suz
