Ohhhhh brrrr here still...So glad we have this campfire to keep warm...I think the baileys is almost done - guess it might be my turn - so I will crank up the wine stock now that she has aged a few weeks...Help yourselves Lots of Blackcurrent Merlot - two batches - wow I will be stocked right up for my trip. The day I leave the Chocolate Raspberry Port will be ready too so I will have a case of that to keep me nice and lubricated
Hey Steph thanks for those links. I am getting super excited and only 3 weeks to go. Have been running around getting all sorts of things ready. New passports arrived today so that is one less thing to worry about.
Ha Remember that one Carol - I did say I would get one before you - I actually almost forgot!!! - I was supposed to get that taken care of back in October. But since it was a renewal I did not have to do all the stuff you normally do - they have a new passport process in place good thing - only took 2 weeks. Instead of 9 Phew.
So here is the new truck backed up to the very cold looking ModPod. We have been trying to keep up with the snow. But it has been so darn cold to get out and clear the snow off her and around - will try to get that done this weekend.
I was to get the cap installed today but yesterday they called and cancelled that it was too cold to work so they shut their shop down - now scheduled for Monday afternoon.
I picked up my Yakima roof racks and will need to get them installed. Not sure how I will do it - maybe one on the cap and one on the cab - that way the sunroof will work and I will not be too close to the front of the trailer with the kayak...even too cold to get out and measure. Have a couple of cockpit covers to make to keep the rain out of the kayaks.
Hey Lois lets hope it is in Mass - you will join the club of Massholes as they are known. One year we were at Paradise Park in Florida and we were in the visitor parking with 3 other couples from the Bar Harbor area - what a great time we had and they made Peter and I honorary Massholes... Would you be there before the end of March - if so be sure to keep us posted I will swing by on my way back north and we can share a glass of something anyway.
Wow souixcitygro - I know all about pneumonia - that is not very much fun at all - Be sure to take really good care of yourself and take the time you need to recoup. I had complications with mine which put me down for months it seemed. But I am great and back to my old self again now. Have some of the wine I just set out - that will clear your sinus for sure...
You know Laura - when you do such a fabulous job of the Rallies it is hard for people to take it on - excellent shoes to fill syndrome.
I will help where I can. But I have no time to commit between now and when I leave - plus I am not going to be feeling too well next week - so I will say once I get settled in SC I will give it some thought and see what is up by then. I might just try my hand at running one on the east coast. Sorry you MI Gals - I have a bit of an advantage being piggy in the middle so to speak. But it would be kind of nice to get a few more women involved if we can.
Hey Carol hope your surgery went okay today and you are back home now resting and feeling semi okay....Lap of luxury now for a while eh Brad will have to wear the apron for a while. But then he is a great cook - so you will be just fine. Make sure you whine a bit and he might part with a few foot rubs...anyway hope you are fine.
So Jamie where you at girl - been a long time - if you still check in let us know if you are up for a women's rally between your place and the state line of Ohio

They must have me on the good meds, I have no pain and my mobility is fine. The best part so far is that I haven't smoked in 24 hours, so I am taking this break as my start to quitting.

directions please?
Ok ladies, here are cups of Hot cocoa all around to get the thinking caps wound up.
Early in February we are headed from south east Michigan to Austin Texas. We want the go as directly as possible without going through the biggest cities along the Way. We sure want to avoid Dallas/Fort Wort, and oh say Cincinnati, and Nashville, St. Louis and well you get the picture.
Have any of you traveled in that direction and have any ideas? I hate the route planning part of getting ready for a trip. I like it best when we have arrived at the area we want to explore and we can just wing it. But this time of year we have to get as far south into warmer weather as quickly as possible but without 700 mile days.
Any suggestions from more practiced travelers would be appreciated.

Hey Dannie that sounds very exciting. It is always a great feeling knowing that your trailer is getting new running gear. Such peace of mind that all the great restoration work you are doing does not go down the toilet because you haven't taken care of her from the ground up
Be sure to check all the suspecting places on the frame too. Nasty 20-30 year old drips can do amazing things to a frame - like eat it completely and everywhere else looks just fabulouse.
Hey Dannie Have set my route and I will be driving right by your neck of the woods. Is there a Wal-mart near you - maybe you would like to hook up for drinks? Coffee or the inside warming kind.
Give me a PM and let me know.
Carol how are you holding up - your maid treating you well.
Cold here furnace down again!!!! trying to get the 50f inside now up to 60f and furnace guy not here yet!!
Was to get my cap put on today but they did not get it in over night to warm it up and get the snow off it - so that is cancelled - and I am done for the rest of the week in chipmunk painkiller slurrrrrpy dribble mode.
Wow Steph you smoked!!! - gosh is there anyone out there that has never smoked? Good on all that have become WISE and quit - it is hard - but then life might be a tad more important than the habit..my motto anyway. Although watch out for the pounds you will pack on - that will do the heart in as well if not careful.
Consult with ankle went as usual - he does not do the replacements and my options now are fusion and or replacement and not to wait any longer. The joint is breaking down and bone is being lost with the bone on bone with every step....no wonder I like kayaking so much!!!!. So have to wait for a big consult with one of only three surgeons in Ontario that do the ankle replacements. Or they may refer me to the States.
Well that is me - I am making hot chocolate for breakfast brrrr help yourself - I have nothing in the house to offer you and it is too cold to think of baking - but I just might turn the oven on to gain a few more degrees.... I may as well get outside and snow blow tee hee

Ya know... if I were supposed to be waited upon, I wish someone would have sent Brad the memo. Anyway still smoke free, I think today is day 6 and I am not planning on lighting up anymore.

Ha I will get right on that memo later....
It is way more exciting that you have been smoke free for 6 days - that is great. I found day 7 the hump if you can put a week behind you then the next week is that much easier and so on.
The longer you go the harder it is to disappoint yourself by lighting up again....you must remember my single lapse in good judgement by lighting up a single smoke at Apple Creek. That put me back 5 clean years at Apple Creek!!! So back now to 1.5 years where does the time go.
But I am really glad I did that now - it just showed me how much of a flighty stupid habit smoking really is coming from a reformed smoker ha ha.
So kudos again Carol - and you will keep getting them every step of the way. And if you should falter - try try again!!!!!

Hey girls - just checking in
Grats on quitting smoking, Carol! First 30 days are the worst, I hear.
I got a WonderWash for the Airstream to do laundry on the road. It's only a step up from a bucket of soapy water in the trunk, but so far so good! It takes 2 minutes to wash and I can rinse, wring & hang in under 15 now.
Looking at some DC LED under-cabinet lighting now. Anyone have something like this installed?

Our beloved aluminotti has been winterized and we're driving home to TN from Florida with a fridge full of fresh seafood.
Last week we took an impromptu vacation back at Topsail Hill after hubby's project was over. He's headed to Boston tomorrow for a meeting. (BRRRR!)
Keep your fingers crossed, because if he can "work from home" for the beginning of this project, we're outta here. I get a feeling we'll be getting some work done on the trailer and heading west to see some friends in Arizona. Me? I'm crossing fingers, toes, eye and legs...Bwahahahaahahaha!

Rivette Blast Feb 09
Tossing it out there for anyone who might want to give the February Blues a Rivette Blast
Paula and I will be hanging out at the American Heritage RV Park 146 Maxton Lane, Williamsburg VA 23188 (888) 530-2267.
American Heritage RV Park - camping in Williamsburg Virginia
for a few days.
February 6-8
If anyone is interested in getting together for perhaps a dinner or lunch give either Paula or myself a PM.
Nothing fancy folks - although this is a private park and it is fancy indeed but if you don't have a trailer ready or out of winter storage and just want to do an over night at a motel that would be great too.
Any and all are welcome..
Who is in the area and who wants to get together for "Drinks" I have Black Current Merlot and Kit Kats

Sharon you and Paula are going to have so much fun! Rivette Blast is a perfect name too, a winter blast so watch out for snow and ice and keep warm. I will be anxious to see pictures and hear all about your rally and trip.
My non-smoking is going famously but I feel like I can't wake up...hope that feeling ends before too much longer, ARGH!!! instead of
Brad is hitched up and leaving for New Mexico tomorrow morning. It will be his first work camping experience at a no-kill animal shelter Desert Haven.
We've applied for summer positions as well so cross your fingers for us. Waiting home in Michigan for a job just doesn't seem viable any more.

hang in there Carol. It will get better. Feel like lighting up play with the dog(s) or Cat.
Having the trailers gives you great flexability in employment.
Now I have to find a way to get mine in the back yard!

Heck we could have called it the "Polar Blast" But for us northerners 30 and 40 degress above ZERO!!! is HEAVEN!!! and I am not picky as to where my heaven may be these days..
I have been in the middle of Florida and it has been the same temps in February - so all I really care is that I don't have 4 feet of snow - you don't have to shovel RAIN
Hey that is GREAT Carol. The edge wears off around the 3rd or 4th week - so keep sticking it out - just put on a few pounds and eat chocolate sticks - get the long thin ones and smok'em girl (or suck them very slowly) - will give you that hand to mouth fetish you are craving or missing or longing for.....subconsciously of course...
That is great news for Brad - hope he does well and it mets his expectations. Are you traveling out there too. Or hanging out in the woman cave for a few more months?
Hey Michelle - did you ever see the picture of the people in Europe they rented a crane and had their airstream lifted over the house and plopped into the back yard. Might be an idea - I am sure you could pull some strings to get a crane at a reasonable price...
Oh come on Airdale - I think you have become a pretty extensive Traveler by now - push it girl - you can leave MI more than once a year Now if I said I would meet you where it was really warm would you come? Ha I will send you a heat lamp by mail.
Brock I LOVE that little washer - what a great idea - just one more thing to pack - but beats doing them in the kitchen sink - and if you were in a bind and no laundry mats and a lovely sunny day and needing some upper body exercise then heck what a great little boob buster that would be. Just might order one when I get to the SC.
Well my count down is on - and I hope to be all ready by the this weekend - so after Monday if my way is clear I am pulling out. Got the cap all sorted out with her Yak Rack and brake light and interior light all hooked up.
And a funny story...you may ask how does a leaf blower and an Airstream in the dead of winter pair up???
Well let me tell you....yesterday I spent 2 hours up top of the ModPod in a beautiful sunny afternoon to which I actually got a sun burn - removing 2 feet of snow and ice and the leaf blower was the perfect tool for the job. Easy to hang onto and balance on the roof and no chance of scratching or denting the aluminum clearing the yucky white stuff!!! And for any of you who doubt that you can stand on the roof without falling through - been there done that on both vintage and newer - it ain't going to happen. Now what is precarious is snow and aluminum they do not go together very well. Very very Slipery - and I could have started my journey very quickly to the ground - but a girl has to do what a girl has to do - to get outta here!!!!

Well when I bought the house I thought I was going to be able to bring the trailer in and out the back of the property. The Church behind was officially asked for permission. They denied. Seems they are planning on selling some time in the future.
There is a 10 foot gate on one side and I can get the trailer in there. One small problem the Gas meter is in the way. At settlement they set aside money to have the meter moved to the back or front of the house. Where ever the gas line comes to the house. I had a front hitch installed on my truck so I can see the trailer while "backing" it into the yard.
I am going to put in a concrete pad electric and sewer for full self service when I get home.
