Palo Duro Rally !!!!!!!!!!!
I need to rotate them tires on the airstream a few more times this year. I dont see a whole lot going on rally wise near me, so time to organize. How about a forum rally the weekend of Oct 19-21 at Palo Duro Canyon State Park out side of Amarillo?
Why then? Im on fall break and I can attend.
Why there? Because it is within a days drive of where I am and I think it would be a fun place to camp in October.
Any takers?
Friday night at the park October 19, 2007 -- Palo Duro Night Sky - Join our local area expert astronomer at the Lone Star Interpretive Theater for an evening of viewing the beautiful night sky over Palo Duro Canyon. Telescopes and instructions provided. 8-9:30 p.m., weather permitting (806) 488-2227.
Does anyone know if the primitive camping area would be OK for travel trailers?

General,
Any thoughts about keeping the rally in central Oklahoma by chance?
I may actually be able to make it if it was there.

Im leaning hard toward Palo Duro for that weekend. Having said that, I would be all about a central OK rally some other weekend.

Long drive for us, but we might be in NM around that time, so we're listening. Are you thinking dry camping or is elect/water possible?

As far as I can tell from the website, both are available. If it is me and a rally of one, it will be dry camping; if others start to show interest then I can go with the electric sites just as easy.

It's a good spot - we just came back. We had a rally with members of 3 WBCCI units; West Texas Unit, Alamo Unit and New Mexico Unit. Palo Duro Canyon is great. The stars really come out if the sky isn't cloudy. The Town of Canyon is nice too. We explored the Plains Museum at WTAMU one afternoon and really enjoyed it. If you're in town for food, try out Feldman's Wrong Way Diner.
Have fun.

Lets do something...at least!
Rodney...
I am up for the Palo Duro. A fantastic place. I can't plan that far ahead. Take it as it comes only.
How about this for the coming week. The rain should be past and really nice weather. I have to work it in around a hay cut/bale with the good weather. Its fairly close to Lawton..
Festival
Anyone else?

If I can get a hitch in time and the brake controler in, I will be ariving at palo duro either on the 17th or the 18th depending on how under the radar I can be at the university. I would love to see another airstreamer or two if anyone wants to come.

Would love to do a trip to Palo Duro, been there before and enjoyed it a great deal. They do have water & elec. and a dump station. Not sure we'll be able to do that quick of a turnaround from Branson - be getting back to Austin the 17th. But, you got me thinking Palo Duro on down the line, though... have great fun!

If you were to just point west instead toward Austin you would be just in time! Oh well, maybe another time. Have a good trip

Turns out..
That if you want to go to Palo Duro in October you want to have reservations way way ahead. Some bike thing going on there this weekend so I am scrambling for an alternative location. I have 4 1/2 days for the trip, time to get out the map.

Good afternoon.
Not sure if you're interested or not, but our WBCCI unit (West Texas) is headed to Lubbock this weekend. Not quite 2 hours south of Canyon where you were headed.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested; we'll get you the details.
If you head elsewhere, have a great weekend.
Ashley Coco.
