Sounds VERY possible. Might just be the thing we need about that time.

I hope you guys will want to make this trip MANY more times over the next several years!!! I so want to try this and would love to take my teens (the 17yr old is in his 4th yr of Spanish) and the 13yr old is in love w/the ocean. Trying to get there from Colorado will be a challenge, but thinking we might try it after the oldest teen graduates from HS>He is a Junior this year. I have seen a trip discussed where the trailers are loaded on a train thru a canyon, then across a channel by ferry to Baja. Ever done that, or looked into it? I really enjoyed this thread and any/all pics.

Uwe,

What keeps coming to mind when I look at those pics is.... "life is sweet!"

I hear those taking the ferry across can now stay, sleep, even cook in their RVs. Wow, that's cool! I've done that ferry crossing without a cabin and I sure wished I had a bed, as I had a wicked stiff neck in the morning.

Baja hoy, Baja mañana, Baja siempre!

Uwe,
Now that I am hitched and finally have a partner, we would like to invite ourselves to a possible November date.
Is it on?
May we join?

I have not looked into the Ferry trip, and the train trip you're describing sounds like Copper Canyon Railroad. They have ads for these trips in Trailer Life Mag. I remember some forum members ( John Irwin, was that you?) taking this trip a while back.
My goal for the next few Mexico trips would be to travel straight to San Felipe, relax by the Sea of Cortez, and drive home. I don't have enough time to travel to Mainland Mexico, or go on Ferry rides right now. Hopefully one day!
It is a day's drive from Southern California, and is a perfect trip to remove "fear of Mexico" from those that think their trailer, truck, kids and dogs will be taken away from them.

Teens typically love being in Baja, and San Felipe has just enough commercialism to divert them when they get bored.
It would be a very long trip from Colorado, at least 2-3 days to and from.
The ocean ( well, the Sea of Cortez) is sparkling with sea-life.
I, too , hope that we can go for many more years.

Life in Baja is indeed sweet, especially if you can bunk up in an Airstream. I can't make the Laguna Seca trip, sadly, so this is my last escape before the Holidays.

Fabian,
Certainly, you may join, just like anyone else that wants to go. I am reasonably sure it's on, although the date is not set yet. I am thinking the weekend of the Nov 4th through 7th. ( Thu through Sun)

Murray, will you be bringing the "Singing Bouviers" along?
young teen boys have lotsa energy to dig tow vehicles out of the sand.... bring them along, by all means.

Uwe, count us in!

We are making it to Laguna Seca for Holloween, so the dates do not conflict.
Did you mention that dogs are allowed? We have a pooch, we would like to bring with us.

Most likely March 2005. Mark your calendars.

In the fall of 2005 I might venture to Bahia de Los Angeles, bring the Zodiac and go whale chasing...ahm,watching.

Uwe,

Ever consider a Christmas Baja trip?

The reason I ask is, being a teacher, I get two weeks off for Christmas every year (Death Valley, here I come)...

and that Corona Holiday commercial keeps coming to mind...you know the one.

The singin' Bouv's (Buffy and Emmy) are working on a new version of "la cuccaracha'!
When they see that trailer load up they ARE THERE!
