For those who don't relax well

Things you could do in 29Palms

Joshua Tree National Monument.
Golf.
Target range nearby.
A Bazillion acres of desert to explore.
Hunting.
Shopping.
A really great B-B-Q joint.

What other ideas and suggestions do you have?

Will doorgunner be bringing any potatos?
Just wondering...

As long as he's bringing the Latte, it's all good.

Sounds like there will be plenty to do...

No potatos, but Doorgunner Tim will be strafing the local rifle range from his airborne aluminum command post.

BamCamper, I presume your Bambi has been mended and ready to rock 'n roll.

Does anyone know anything about the local rifle range? Longest rifle range? Trap shooting?

Codybear's Husband found the rifle range. She can probably get the info for you.

There is a Trap range just West of Yucca Valley on Hwy 62.

FYI- During WW-II the aerial gunners were shall we say exposed to trap and skeet shooting as a means to improve their skills. During Viet Nam they just asked for volunteers, At that time the Navy started Fighter Weapons School- Where the best pilots were trained to be better. Semper Fi

29 Palms sidenoteI have snuck onto the base many times. One time I found a miniture Japenese city. Japanese looking wood buildings with a two foot square size. Many spent .50 Cal bullets and 25lb dummy wing bombs. The spent casings I found in the area were dated 42 and 43.Almost got squished by a tank that day too.

Can't miss the BBQ place. It's on Hwy 62 one hill before town on your right next to the Carasel Family Diner. Big smokin BBQ right out front.

Can't help you on the bars. After the Longhorn was closed I stopped barhopin out there.

NorCal Fly-in?

Tim-

Just in case, there is a large public use airport 6 miles east of downtown Twenty Nine Palms, on Hwy 62... Look for KTNP in your computer... 5500' runway, and FBO, cab service available also... Several private airports closer to town, but restricted access..

We're bringing green salad, tables and chairs, and could easily bring a tent if needed ("6" person dome tent..).

Comanche Society is doing annual fly-in lunch at Furnace Creek Inn that weekend, but choices must be made....

John; I looked at the charts but still need to get my medical. Then of course I sold the only plane I had flying, also sold the 5151. And suddenly I'm trying to decide which one to finish next. So the AS remains somewhat gutted. I do need axles guess I'll just tow close to home for a few months. Probably see everyone at the annual Cassini thing. I would like to thank everyone for thinking of me and appreciate all your kindness. Tim

Sorry that you won't be able to make it. We'll see you at the next one. On a lighter note, it looks like we're going to double the number of motorhomes this time! guy99: Glad you are going to join us.

Question:

Who is bringing their dog/doggies to 29 Palms?
Do we have a doggie list? I lost track.

I'm debating about bringing my road trippin' pup, Osa. She's great
company in the GMC, she makes me smile the whole way.

Bring yer pooch! As long as you have a leash and pick up after him the park welcomes him.

We'll probably bring ours. The worlds goofiest dog.

She just asked, "leash, what's a leash?"

Looking forward to meeting the "worlds goofiest dog"- and Ben & Moose!

Both, He's an 85 lbs of Yellow Lab. If you wear a hat he barks .

He's a rescue mutt who does not trust anyone who does not have a tennis ball for him to chase.

Talk to him and he backs up. Ignore him and he puts his head in your lap.
