Night of Destruction - Sept. 14, 2019 - Kalamazoo Speedway

Night of Destruction - Kalamazoo, MI Speedway - Sept. 14, 2019

Kalamazoo Speedway Night of Destruction will be a MEGA NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION on Saturday, September 14, 2019. The 2019 event will feature three monster trucks, a jet car meltdown, Zoo Stacker Double-Decker Cars, new stunts by Scarecrow, demolition derby and fireworks to cap it all off at the end of the night!

Zoo Stacker is new for this year and I was not able to find any videos of similar events. It sounds like two cars (on on top of the other) with the steering performed a "driver" in one car and the gas and brakes performed by a "driver" in the other car. That's sure to be a hoot! Be sure to check out the Kalamazoo Speedway YouTube videos for highlights from past events.

Free dry camping is available at the track. For those who want to arrive a day early, the promoter indicated we can stay overnight on Friday, September 13 too. (ooohhh, Friday the 13th!) It's not entirely clear if our group can be parked together but it's also not a huge parking lot so I'm sure we can find each other. If necessary we'll find a way to identify each other but I guess the aluminum will be easy to find.

This is a "do what you want" rally - the only planned activity is the Mega Night of Destruction - cost is $20 for adults.

Can I enter this 40+/- foot Airstream? How much and are trophies given out? These roads in western Wyoming need to be... fixed.

Why would you want to destroy a very rare (one of only 13 built) 40' Airstream?

******

This is why.

Somewhere on this Forum I may have said where and added photos when these Railroad Models were being discussed. Think a F150 Turbo will handle it?

Now you need to find it.

I don't have any idea what your cryptic reply is talking about. If it was some attempt at humor, it is completely lost on me. Please explain.

Check Out Scarecrow Stunts!

Scarecrow has done a variety of stunts at Kalamazoo Speedway in the past. The guy must just be crazy! He's definitely in the "here, hold my beer, watch this!" category.

Check out the Scarecrow stunts from the past on YouTube:

Going to be a Great Rally!

We decided to make the drive from Ohio to see this event! So many times airstreamers get locked into staying in a full hook-up campground.

Hitch up and use your trailer to the fullest! Experience boondoocking while enjoying a really fun event that is priced right.

We are looking forward to a great time. I hope others will join us.

Last time we attended N.O.D. we parked the RVs near the tree line, just south/southeast of the area shown in red. Based on my phone conversation with the track we should be in the same area again this year.

If only we had access to a couple of old trucks, maybe Suburbans, we could win this competition.

So far it's a rally of two rigs - DanB and nvestysly - we'll be sure to have plenty of fun at this night of ferrous carnage! Surely there are some other Airstreamers out there who appreciate gratuitous destruction of motorized vehicles. What else to you have to do on a Saturday night in September?!

I double-checked with the speedway and was assured the gates will be open on Friday for afternoon/evening arrival. Mega Night of Destruction is on Saturday night. There are lots of interesting things to see and do in the Kalamazoo area - here are some examples:

Kalamazoo Air Museum Air Zoo is said to be the one of the best of its kind in the midwest

Kalamazoo Beer Exchange (think stock market exchange with drink prices varying based on popularity of the beverage) They also offer wine, cider, mixed drinks and non-alcoholic beverages. The food is good too!

Gilmore Car Museum this is an extraordinary car museum - one of a kind! If you like cars at all this place needs to be on your bucket list - it really is that spectacular. But be sure to allow plenty of time as this place easily takes two days if you want to enjoy it and not feel rushed.

Inexpensive Camping...

Admission for Mega Night of Destruction is $20/person. Let's say you are traveling as a couple so you're gonna shell out $40 for the Saturday event. Some might say that's a bit pricy for an evening out but think about it this way...

You can stay at the race track on Friday and Saturday night for free! Granted, it's dry camping but for $40 you get to hang out with other Airstreamers, have a good time, see some sights, get crazy at N.O.D. and live to tell about it! That sounds like a bargain at twice the price!
