Newcomers - Need Your Help

Will there be a rally close to Nashville, Tennessee in 2010? We want to talk to current airstream owners about what to consider when buying a trailer and towing vehicle. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lee and welcome to the forum.
You've picked the right place for all things Airstream

Have you checked the "Rally calendar" tab at the top of the page?

It does take some searching by month, but I'm sure a member in TN will chime in!

Welcome to the forums!

Our Semi Annual rally will be on April 9 at Hiawassee, GA. That's about 2 1/2 hours from Chatt Town. Search for Springstream on the rally calendar. It will tell you dates, how to make reservations, etc.

Until then, don't hesitate to search the forums and ask questions. This is the greatest place on earth to learn everything you need to know!

Thanks, Michael,

We have checked the calendars and the closest we found is Destin, FL which is about 9 hrs away. We would like to talk to current owners and learn all that we can before we buy.

What size trailer should we consider starting with and what kind of towing vehicle do you recommend?

Hi, Kathy,

Thanks. We'll definitely consider the GA rally, its just 6 hrs away. What are some things to consider when one is just getting started looking for a trailer and a towing vehicle?

Welcome to the forums. Start by reading here Choosing The Right Size Airstream

Then figure out how much you can spend. Will you be getting a new one or a fixer or a gently used ....?

Shop for the trailer first then buy a tow vehicle to fit. As warm weather approaches, there will be more rallies posted on the calendar.

Welcome to the forums!

Lots of good advice so far here! When it is all said and done, the Airstream you choose will depend on your lifestyle, number of people and pets, and your pocketbook! But no matter what you will find lots of ideas here and you can ask questions about any little item that strikes your fancy about Airstreams! In the meantime you might check out this thread, it is a older one, but has lots of "food for thought" when looking for that perfect 'stream. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f353...eam-22920.html

You might look at the Vintage Airstream archives to get an idea of vintage options and the floor plans/layouts compared to the newer ones. Besides, these are just plain fun to look at! Vintage Airstream Photo Archives

Have fun! Good luck in finding just what you want! BTW, a rally is a great way to go to kick tires and talk Airstreams!
