I went through Reserve America to reserve the site and saw no red flags or anything that said we couldn't reserve two sites. We will bring a 6 person tent and air mattresses and set it up on F-9.

When we check in, I'll let the host know that we have two sites -- one with the trailer and one with the tent. I don't know why it would be a problem since we plan to use both sites and paid for both sites.

Yep my encounter was prior to the Reserve America days. I know at some Illinois Corp of engineer sites, they now tie the site to the auto or truck parked on site. They've had issues with folks pitching tents to hold sites for friends or to extend their stay beyond the 14 day limit. If they don't see a motorized vehicle, they know something is up. But that's in the campgrounds close to St Louis. Some folks were tying up spots all season by using alternate email addresses, tents placed on first come first serve spaces and site swapping. They finally got wise and started using the motorized vehicle as one of the ways to determine if sites are being tied up by the same person(s). Personally I understand since was frustrating to see the sites filled by the same trailers week after week.

I agree with the spirit of what may have been past or current guidelines.

If the site were a good site without a dead tree looming over it, I would feel guilty about taking the opportunity away from another camper.

We usually have two vehicles at Moraine View since we drive back and forth to Bloomington during the rally.

I guess if it wasn't meant to be then fate or karma will have a limb fall on my SUV or on the tent hopefully without me in it.

Hard to imagine they won't at least do something about overhanging, dead tree limbs, before they allow someone to camp in that site.

Trimming tree limbs is pretty straightforward.

If Dana starts snoring, I ll go sleep in the tent since it is next to our trailer lol that should cover it. Does not say two families cannot ride together.

Well the time is at hand and we are a little over two weeks away. I'm starting a list here at home since we have lots to do before we head out on our first outing since September of 2014.

So for those of you on the fence it's time to make your reservation or plan on getting there on Thursday for one of the non reservable sites. I'm down to a couple choices for our evening movie on Saturday night. I'm doing a prescreen here at home once Netflix delivers a candidate.

Some things to remind everyone who is new to the rally is that I'll be hosting the hot dog fest over at my site on Friday beginning at 5 pm. I'll supply the hot dogs, buns, relish, mustard, ketchup and BBQ sauce if you are so inclined. I'll also have some paper plates and napkins. If any of you are interested in filling with with some chips, snacks etc., please feel free.

It's also time to start collecting the food thoughts for the Saturday pot luck. Note that we will start promptly at 6 PM. I'll need some guys to help borrow some tables from our sites to get a serving area and seating area. We will do the gathering at 5pm. Once dinner is done we will move the tables back to their respective site. If we all work together it will only take about 10 minutes or so to get this done. Once we get the tables set up, if you have a table cloth to loan, we can get the tables all covered. Don't forget clips in case the wind is blowing.

The pot luck dinner is pretty easy. All we ask is that you cook your own entree' for yourself or your family. Bring another item to share with at least 6 others. The share item can be any type of side, cold or hot. Usually we have enough food to take care of everyone. I don't think anyone walks away hungry. Bring your own plates and utensils for eating and serving your shared dish. To make things easy, we will keep a list posted of the sides you are bringing. I'll keep it all on one page as you post what you are bringing. This will help us getting enough variety in the sides.

Any questions, please let me know. You can PM me or post on the thread. I'll cross my fingers on the weather. Still too early but we do have tradition on our side and this second weekend in June has been kind to the potluck.

Jack

I like the way you think. I've been giving some consideration to a new one myself on the same grounds! Did you get a queen bed or twins?

Everyone enjoy yourself at MV. Sorry I'm not going to be there this year. Will definitely miss it.

After having both, and if I'd do it again, I'd opt for twins. The major reason is the additional space available in the rear bedroom.

Another reason to like twins is the additional outside storage which all twin models have. A negative for twins in the 26 is the reduction in size of the wardrobe. But even with this - and I really like the bigger wardrobe - if I were to get a 26 I would get twins.

That was my fault, Maggie. I turned my microwave on and broke the whole park's power. Apparently the breaker board was so hot the main for the park blew and it took a LOOOONG time for them to be able to re-set it.

I broke the whole park's power grid!

I think we're talking about two different rallies.

The camp host felt the grid was "hot" and took it upon himself to shut off all the power, without notice, and said he didn't know how long it would be off.

Steve called the ranger station and advised them of this situation, which they otherwise had no knowledge of, and the power was turned back on.

All we regulars were there, witnessed it all.
