Some of us will be there the entire week. We will be grouped together in the same area so you should see many of us. Will you be missing all the fun? Well who knows, but 3 days is better than none as far as I'm concerned. Hope to see you there!
Regards,
Jack

Did you miss the Moraine View rally? Were you there but it ended too quickly? Hey, there is still time to make your reservation to the much longer Mackinaw City rally that begins on July 11th. Come and enjoy the lake front breezes, view the Mackinaw straits and the island. See the suspension bridge. Go up to Sault Ste. Marie and see the locks. So much to see and do and Airstreams too!

Just in case you are wondering about spelling, the city is spelled Mackinaw. The island and the straits are spelled Mackinac. Don't know why though.
At this point I show 9 confirmed for the rally with 1 other possible. The list as of 6/15/04 is as follows:
jcanavera
silvertwinkie
apple 1
tnsue
wflorencejr
blucloud
eikel1we
ayrstrm2
silvertwinky
71tradewind (maybe)

For those of you getting the itch, here is a link to the Mackinaw City web site. Our campground is just a couple of miles east of the city.

Mill Creek
I stopped at Mill Creek two weks ago and found the campground to be something of a mixed bag.
The place was at least 80% empty, it being very early in the season. Instead of spreading everyone out, they put us all together at one end of each row. There were 3 occupied sites all packed together in a row of maybe 15 sites. I drew a site between 2 large motorhomes.
The site was barely large enough for my 25' and my truck and, had the site diagonally across the way not been empty, it would have been very hard to back in since the roadway between sites was not very wide. As it was. I pulled into the site diagionally across and had a straight shot into my site. In the last morning, the site across the way was filled and I was just able to clear the motorhome sticking out on my left to depart.
Other than that, the place was clean and seemingly well run. The view was great. We really enjoyed our time in Mackinac City and island.

I just checked July 11th last year. 57 degrees for a high. Normal highs for the time of year we are going to be there is about 80 degrees.
Thanks for the links John. Bridge stuff is neat.

Yes you come in at a diagonal and the loop roads are not terribly wide. I backed my 27' Safari in and needed to come across the road a little into the site across from me in order to get straightened out easily. The 31' length of the Classic will provide a little more challenge for me this year.

It has been a non-summer so far in Michigan, cool and damp. I wish you have some nice breezy 80ish days, pack otherwise.

Coming from the heat and humidity of STL, I never complain about the coolness of the far north. It's really a treat for us.....and I know better than to put a foot in that cold water up there. Its amazing to see the April pictures of the bridge and the amount of ice in the water.

Just wanted to let you know we will be joined by our friends who have a pop-up. They are the people we traveled with to Vermont last fall. Yes, they specified the Canavera group!

Caravan through MI to Mackinaw City?
I was just wondering who is taking what route to MC. With a little timing there might be a chance to meet up for a little caravan. We will take US 127 at Clare, MI to I-75 to MC.

We will be coming from southeast so we will hit US127 at the Michigan 55 intersection. You will be coming south of us. I haven't figured driving time yet so while its possible, I'm not sure of the timeframe yet.

Just checked the 10 day forcast for Mackinaw City. Weather will be Sunny, high in the low 70's lows in the 50's. For those of us arriving on Sunday it will be picture perfect.
