Talking strobe light

Jack, in ref to a rally member imbibing to much and getting confused in a sea of aluminum.

Is it permissible to put a strob light on top of my AS in order to help ME? WE did that when we had a marina on a lake in East TX...topped off our marina in the water with a light from a squad car that led our wayward customers home at night. From the middle of a lake at night the shore line looks all the same.

I'm not sure you can do that...I can see a cargo freighter coming ashore one foggy night.

Maybe we can get you a flag pole and a set of flags. You could raise specific flags to note what degree of distress you are in!

Thumbs up flags

Jack. that will do.

Any ole port in a storm you know!

Sure don't want a freighter in MY lap.

Will forgo the strobe light and settle for the flags, Sir.

Thumbs up

Ok...called this AM and set up the reservation.

We had a slight change of plans....we'll be there on the 14th and will be leaving on the 17th.

We are committed at this point.

Time is passing quickly so don't let this one pass you by. Reservations can be made via the campground web site, mail, or phone call (Saturday's only during April).

Note that this campground will fill so don't let too much time pass before you make your reservation. Full hookups here and lots of stuff for the kids and things to do for us adults also!

Regards,

Jack

Hey, Jack, I've been following with interest your efforts to sign up the Mackinaw Rally.
Don't know if you got my previous post, but is anyone welcome? What I mean, is, are you just a group of old friends having a get-together or would we be welcome? Sounds like a really interesting spot.

Yep I saw the question, you posted it on the Moraine View rally site and I answered it there. Here is the link http://www.airforums.com/forum...5900#post95900

But to answer it here also, anyone is welcome. This is just like the Moraine View rally only its geared for those wanting a destination campgrounds with a longer stay and full hookups.

Regards,

Jack

Smile Rally at Mackinaw City...

Thanks, for the reply Jack. It does sound like a neat place, we'll plan to be there. We confirmed our reservation today for July 11th to the 17th and look forward to meeting you and the others. We enjoy Airstreaming for the travel and meeting new people. Potlucks are OK, but pageantry and formality we can do without.

Regards,

Bill

Great Bill. I assume you told them you were with our group. It looks like we are up to 5 units at this point.

Just a reminder, if you make reservations be sure you note that you are with the "Canavera group". Do not ask to be with the Airstream group. That group is not us and they have a reservation for August. I just found that someone asked to be with that group thinking they were going to be with us. Lots of room but July will be here before you know it...and this campground will fill up.

You know, seeing the info on rallies (and vacations and locations and ...), I just get sick to death of being stuck here for the season! If you want to travel a bunch, do not get into the business of running an RV park!!

I did seriously consider it about 10 years ago. Backed out after talking to one of my peers who did this, and had a few regrets.

Hi folks! Just a reminder and to get this thread active, we are about 5 weeks away from this rally. Time is getting short so be sure to make your reservations. This is a great location and for those of you with vintage units or broken A/C units, the weather up here is just great! I've been up here twice before and its a nice relief from the summer heat.

Go back to the beginning of this thread and take the links to the campsite. They have a nice video that you can see that will give you some of the layout of the campground and the area around.

You did tell them you were with the Canavera group. Right?

Time is running out

I just got a call from the Mackinaw campground today and we now have 8 units confirmed for the rally.

They have held aside another 4 sites for us so please consider getting your reservations in. If we don't get committments soon, those 4 sites will be given to others.

Jack

Jack,

My wife and I just bought our first A/S, and we are interested in coming to the rally. At this moment, we are thinking about coming up on the 15th, and staying over until the 18th. Would we be missing all of the fun, or will there be chances to meet the other Airstreamers on those last two days? We live just north of Detroit, so this is a perfect rally for us to attend, since the Int'l rally is just too much commitment for us at the moment (the kitchen and dinette in the Safari are torn apart right now).
