John Day Rally 2013

Hi all! This is the official thread for the upcoming rally at John Day, Oregon.

Airstream Forums - John Day Rally

This is going to be a small rally, because the park is small and there are no reservations available, so I'm limiting it to about a dozen trailers. Think of it as a warm-up for Area 33. Time to de-winterize, shake off the cobwebs, and hit the road!

I tend to let my rallies plan themselves, so we can use this thread to plan on a couple potlucks, but other than that I expect a whole lot of hanging around a campfire relaxing and catching up. I'll bring my guitar, bring whatever you've got too!

We'll be in Friday as well - 1st trip of the season for us. I'll try to remember to pack some fire wood!

I was in an accident with the " Cruck" and didn't know if we would have a tow rig ....but it should be fixed in the next couple of weeks.
Let me know if something opens up.

arrival time?

Do you think we'll have to get there early Friday to get a spot? Trying to decide whether to take a half day of vacation from work or not. Michelle

We're signed up

Claudia and I are looking forward to this rally.
We are working on a plan to have a rally in the Yreka area at the new CritterVille Alpaca Ranch and campground. This place has an amazing view of Mt. Shasta. It will be similar to the Area 33 site. During this time there will also be a large Hot Air Balloon fair. Huge bond fire and we hope lots of music. We are looking at the early to mid September time. You will also have the ability to mingle with some of the finest Alpaca friends around. If this sounds interesting to you , let us know and we will keep you posted as we create this event. We will have room for up to 100 trailers and friends.

I think it's going to be so early in the season, we shouldn't have any problems getting spots. I am taking Friday off work to get there at a reasonable time. I think you folks in Tri-Cities might be closer to this one than we are!

Don, let us know about your rally! Mt Shasts and balloons sounds like an incredible photo opportunity. I've been spit on by enough llamas/alpacas to last a lifetime, so I think I'll steer clear of them! LOL!

Stephanie, looks like you're already full for John Day but we're definitely interested in coming to Area 33 as we've heard such great things about it. Do you have a date set for that one? We're trying to work in all the rallies we want to get to this year.

Thanks!
Diane

Hello everyone,

It has been waaaaaaaayyyyyyy to long since we've been at a rally. We are planning on being there! It will be a perfect end to April as Don has multiple doctor appointments during April and we will be ready for some serious R & R!

We will bring food to share.... Let's hope for spring weather without rain.

It doesn't look like I'll be there on Friday. Might have to just be an overnighter on Saturday. Do you think that there will be any spaces left in the park ?

Chris, give us a call on Fri night or Sat morning and we can let you know if there are any spaces left. I'll email you my cell phone offline or you could always call Janet.

A nice park, we've stayed there many times. Remember, there are no pull-thru sites, so everyone get their back-up chops in order. Sorry to miss you all, we'll be far north by then.

I'm looking forward to seeing in person Gail's perpendicular parking skills at this rally! I'll be ready with my camera...

We'll be pulling the "twinky" out of her winter slumber soon and checking out all the systems! She needs a good bath and doing inventory to see what inside. Always an exciting activity! Can't wait to re-unite with all our AS family at John Day. Should be fun...and lots to see there as well.

Hope for warm & dry weather!!

Don't get too smug, just because you only have to back up a van!

I spent the weekend flushing out the trailer's water systems and getting everything checked out. We're ready to roll! Looking forward to seeing everybody!

Amenities

From what I see on the website, this is electrical only. Does anyone know for sure?

Michelle,
They have electric with water only. There is a dump site available when leaving. There are hot showers and paved spaces to park. It's really nice!

See ya,

Jim

Any thought on food?

Does anyone know what the meal plans are?? Or are these true "potluck" for dinners Friday & Saturday??

The 4 Corners Unit always has a "no plan" dinner schedule and everything seems to work out. I just don't want to have 6 salads to eat for the main course or 5 pies for desert. I know no one ever goes home hungry from these. A theme for Friday and Saturday night would help get things started. Maybe a Chili feed one night, then Mexican another night. You will have to chime in with your suggestions. We could bring beer cheese soup in our crock pot. Someone else will have to carry it back to our trailer cuz I've had some problems in the past!!

We're bringing "Ziggy" our Boston Terrier for his second camping season! He's gonna have fun!
