High Falls Georgia Rally

Can anybody give me more information about this upcoming get-together? Depending on the job situation, we may be able to attend Saturday through Monday, but may not know until the last minute. Thanks!

Hi Rollster. I will be coordinating it. The intent is to have a laid back outing. We will be having some group meals I the building near our camp area. One being a soup contest (best soup wins). I am currently considering a couple of options for an outing on Saturday. The best one at the moment looks like a trip to the Georgia Air Museum. The park ranger said if I let him know how many we will have a few days prior, he will block the site for us. If you have a reasonable expectation of attending, please let me know and I will make sure there is a site for you.

So far I haven't heard from very many, but still have hopes that those going to the Canopener may want another outing a couple of weeks later and decide to attend.

A question for those who are thinking about attending. Which would you prefer to do as a group on Saturday;

Jarrell Plantation Historic Site (approx a 45 min drive from High Falls S.P.)
Jarrell Plantation Historic Site | Georgia State Parks

or

Georgia Museum of Aviation (approx an hour drive to Warner Robins AFB)
Museum Home

There is also hiking (mostly gentle) at High Falls, but my thinking is that would be done on an individual basis or in small groups.

Group feedback on the above choices would be much appreciated. The drive to the Aviation Museum is longer, but it is a very extensive facility covering several hangers. Since it is collocated with an AFB, the emphasis is more heavily weighted to military aircraft.

I have not been to Jarrell Plantation. The website looks very interesting to my family, and we like supporting Georgia State Parks/Historic Sites.

All,

So far this is going to be a small, but fun rally. If you plan to attend, and haven't all ready been in touch with me, please PM me with your email address and I will add you to the meal list, etc.

The plan is for the following:

Soup contest on Friday night.
Saturday outing to Jarrell Plantation.
Saturday dinner out at Eagle and Lion in Griffin, GA
Group breakfast each day (we will coordinate loosely)
Sunday hiking High Falls Park

Great outing! Thanks to you and Carol for hosting a fun weekend. We had 7 rigs, hikes, the Air Museum, Jarrell Plantation, Fried Green Tomatoes, and some great food!

I'm sure our next hosts are working on plans for a great time at Chattahoochee Bend. That event is March 15 - 17 and we hope folks will join us!
