Mapquest sounds like a good idea.
The park address is: 2100 W. French Avenue, Orange City, FL

John, I called the campground and was told to take I-4 to exit #114, follow the signs to Orange City, then follow the signs to the campground. I have a Coleman inflatable double mattress, with pump, if you want to use it to keep off the gravel.

For planning purposes, I'm assuming the potluck is Saturday night. Good assumption?

I hope you guys have someone there with a camera!!! It sounds like it will be a great group and a wonderful, fun rally. I'm, of course, jealous sitting here in rather cool Colorado with my "Moonunit" far, far away hibernating right now. BOO HOO.

Well, I didn't get to go. I got stuck being the on call nurse manager this weekend, of course I did just have 2 1/2 weeks off for knee surgery, but I really wanted and needed to rally. Oh well, at least Terry got to go. So I guess the dog, cat and I will stay home and wait for the phone to ring, or pager to go off.

It was a fun rally and I learned a lot of things:
Frying chicken is a lot of hard work, but worth it! YUM!
When the gas gauge says 1/4 - STOP FOR GAS!
It's a good idea to hike in the cool of the morning before going swimming in the warm afternoon.
When the water is 72 degrees it's only cold when you first get in, then it's beautiful.
When the hose comes loose as you are dumping your black tank, close the valve BEFORE trying to re-attach the hose.
Never give up on snorkeling with a manatee, they will show up if you are persistent.
It sure was great meeting everyone.

Great weekend in Blue Springs!
I'm no longer a "newbie" at towing my trailer... aside from getting it home the first time. After 3-1/2 years of working on it (and still not finished) I finally got it out of my back yard. (My neighbors were probably glad to see it go... at least for the weekend) Of the entire experience, the part I hated the most was getting home and realizing that I have to return to reality! Dang!
Special thanks to Rich for riding up with me to ease the angst. I promise, no more jokes about "maiden voyages."
Edie and Brett for always being fun to hang out with. Brett for his awesome Airstream knowledge, and Edie for her phenomenal sense of direction.
Tom Williams for his amazing glaze, and even more amazing fried chicken... and of course his very cool wife and kids.
Terry, for adding some excitement to the weekend.
And it was great meeting Pick and NYAirdreams.
I'm ready to roll!

Most Excellent Rally!
Gee, I hate to rub it in, but if you missed this rally, you really missed a good one!
Friday: picture-taking of Sneakinup's nearly-complete renovated mid-70's Overlander. Dinner at Brian's in Orange city
Saturday: a nice hike with Sneakinup and EdieG through the sand pine scrubs, followed by snorkeling with thenewkid64 and EdieG in the crystal clear 72 degree water of Blue Spring. Spotted a lot of fish while we drifted down the river. That afternoon, thenewkid64 offered a nice riveting seminar, which I would praise more except that I fell asleep in the middle, in one of Sneakinup's lawn chairs.
Saturday night: big chicken barbecue courtesy of TCWilliams and family -- (THANK YOU! It was excellent) while "The Long Long Trailer" played on the big screen.
Sunday: another swim in the Blue Spring, during which a manatee swam up and took a nap nearby. Afterward, leftover chicken for lunch.
In keeping with Edie's post, I will post "What I Learned On My Vacation"
1) Tom's chicken is just as good the next day
2) Argosy20 needs a tweak on his dump valves
3) Tom's chicken has definite soporific effects (look it up)
4) I need a full 3mm wetsuit, not just a shorty, if I'm going to keep snorkeling in 72 degree water
5) Cherry wood looks terrific in a 67 Overlander
6) There's a great rib joint in Orange City (Brian's)
7) Sneakinup's awning leaks
8) NYAirDream needs to get his Airstream soon if he wants to keep his clothes dry
Thanks to everyone for being such great company!

It was fun, I think I had too much excitement, it is someone else's turn to have the disaster next time. I have never said life in my vicinity is dull...

Pick one, any one. Pick two, there is a discount if you choose 12 or more. I am canceling my subscription to the Disaster-of-the-month club.

John...I think you should win a prize for the "Most Determined" to join the rally! You were a great sport to come in your tent and join us.

Even though we arrived late, we still had an enjoyable time with everyone. Sunday was an awesome day for spotting manatee. I did manage to get some snorkling in too.
Like everyone else, we enjoyed TC's chicken, it was awesome!
It was nice meeting everyone, good to put faces to "nics".
One the way home we ran into a slight problem. The drawbridge was "out" over the St. Johns river at RT44. Traffic was a mess. We had to double back to Orange City and take an alternate route. Only cost us about 45 minutes.

It was really nice to get to see some old forum friends and meet some new ones! I for one had fun, and I don't think I was the only one to eat too much of Tom's chicken! Yummmy!
Rich,
Sorry the riveting seminar was so boring that you slept thought it Of course you are an old hand at setting and shaving rivets, but I thought I was a better presenter. On Second thought it might have been the hike and swim before the seminar that pooped you out????
Pick,
At least the bridge was not your problem to fix. We had our tow bar snap on the way to the park Friday and had to Disconnect the car and drive it in, and home. The safety equipment worked flawlessly and there was no damage to the car or the MH. The only thing damaged was the pretzel-ed tow bar
The dinner and a movie concept worked well, thanks Terry for the additional AV hardware needed to pull it off. We need to do that again!
Edie and I are glad you all could come, wish more of you had been there, but maybe next time!

Terry... Great photos! Y'know, we probably would have come except: A) the Behemoth is now stored for the winter that you won't get, and B) you didn't move Florida close enough for us to make it from Iowa in four hours or less.
On second thought, maybe I'm GLAD Florida is a little further away... having been through seven typhoons in the South Pacific, I think I've seen enough hurricane-force winds!
Looks like a great time was had by all.
Thanks for sharing, everyone!
