Sorta wish it was time to head to Hawassee now, Being Oct, on the lake, and in the mountains would be relief from this unbearable heat. Gives me something to look forward to.

Amen. Do like we did a few weekends ago and head up into the Nantahala Forest (Franklin, NC). It was mid 90's in Hiawassee, and maybe a 30 minute drive north from there at the Standing Indian campground it was probably mid 60's in the morning and 70's/80's during the day. We hiked about 9 miles VERY comfortably. Nice break from the heat.

Alan, you won't need AC - nice and cool. Kind of academic anyway - there is no electricity, no water, nada but natural beauty.

Thank you so much! It has been a while since I have been on this site & forgot how to maneuvre(sp) my way through it...
YEA!!!! I guess we will be on Area 1 across the street, but hope to get to meet a lot of wonderful people. Can you tell me how much it costs to get into the event? Do we need to bring anything special, etc?
Thank you again

Springstream at Stone Mountain....?
What would you all think about not having a Springstream in 2012? The Rally at Stone Mountain is April 27, and with Easter and Passover together early in April, I am thinking this would be a great substitute weekend of fun...Thoughts?? I will be going to the ST Mtn thing....either way I guess.

Personally, I prefer Hiawassee. Going 285 east from 75 is a nightmare on Friday afternoon/ evening. My husband ( the driver) may chime in with a different opinion though!

Where are the rally sites?
We would be interested in going to Stone Mtn. We used to go there every year. Have not been in a couple of years. What part of the campground is everyone camping in?

Works for us...and we'll probably attend the Stone Mt thing as well, provided I can get the time off. The main attraction of Hiawassee is the mountains, which we love and spend lots of time there. The main attraction of Springstream and Falluminium is the people....well, we LOVE the leaves in the fall. We can probably do one, but not both, mainly because of my work schedule. Maybe take a straw poll at this years' Falluminium? Maybe do both "just 'cause"?

One question for y'all that have called the campground. Are ALL of the campsites on the north side of the hwy taken for the Fall weekend? Meaning, the only thing left is south of the hwy? I messed around too long and didn't make reservations soon enough and therefor haven't called them after reading here.
