Escanaba is another really great area with Big Bay de Noc,several really good parks near by, fantastic fishing, and tons of sites to see.
Check out historic Fayette State Park. Great sites, deep water docks, we've seen 50 sail boats tied there, sets on Big Bay de Noc.
This would be an outstanding site.

OR...
the event could be a bit further SOUTH near Manistee where I've heard rumors that Captain Adam knows the fishing hot spots very well...

Exploring Over The Bridge would be neat, especially if the parks are a little less crowded
It would also offer a different perspective of MI... It also gives me a better excuse to pick up some "Spotted Cow" in WI...

I'm still holding out for Petosky State Park. It was a great day-trip to the area...would love to have a long weekend there.

FISH ON!
Here's what Captain Adam caught in Manistee in an hour last year...typical of his escapades in that area of Lake Michigan.
Keep your fingers crossed...this month he has his salmon tournaments on weekends and (for inquiring minds who want to know TMI) his boat always wins the Women's Tournament each year in Manistee.
That's right...he and Leroy have a team of women that they pilot and his boat wins all the time...nice (middle aged) ladies who seriously fish. Somehow I missed the memo, but, Stacey...I'm thinking we need to get on that team next year.

hmmmm, maybe he needs some 'land navigational' devices, similar to what he has on the Pole Dancer?

So, what's for dinner, or will it be a dessert? I found a neat apple cobbler last night, and we are going to try it this weekend
Did you know you can make ice cream in a dutch oven? hmmmm
Good Luck, and Happy Cooking

Damn it, Ed, that's my SECRET spot! (Notice the huge catch.)
Way Dam Resort is the only resort (using the term loosely) on 400 miles of raw shoreline owned by Wisconsin Electric. There is a nice public launch nearby and the iron colored water is full of pike, nice smallies, walleye, jumbo perch, the biggest bluegills and crappies you've ever seen and lots of loons.
I would recommend this spot to any fisherman. The family tavern serves up good breakfasts, Dina Mia pizza, and burgers.
Think Canada wilderness, big water, and adventure. And, hey, Spread Eagle, Wisconsin is just up the road.
