We are planning a cobbler in a 16" Dutch Oven - enough for about 30 people. Hopefully we won't have a burn ban like last year. Would be good to cook at the campfire after dinner - takes about an hour. If burn ban is on we might be able to cook in the club house oven.

What are people's thoughts on the pot luck days? Do we want to potluck on Friday and Saturday? Do we want to make a trip to Lockhart, TX (The BBQ Capital of TX)?

Sams,
I would like to get other attendees opinions on the trip to Lockhart before booking a specific date. For people arriving on Friday, they may not arrive in time for a trip to Lockhart. Likewise, they may not arrive in time to really make anything for the potluck.
Collin gets out of school that day around 1430 and I plan to head up shortly after. We still wouldn't arrive after fighting traffic for 90 minutes if we are lucky leaving north on 35 at that time.
Anyone else opinions on this?

One week from today, the park is going to stop holding spots for the group, and will allow anyone to book the spots. From what I hear there is quite the wait list. I actually still have to call and reserve a rental trailer so I can attend myself.
We lost another two attendees recently, and currently sit at the required 10 to get the discount. It looks like the same date as last year just didn't work for a bunch of people this year.
Having no other opinions on the matter, I suppose we can hit Lockhart BBQ joints on Friday evening. Last year we went to Black's BBQ, but there is also Chisholm Trail BBQ, Kreuz BBQ, and Smitty's BBQ.
Off to take 1 of my last 3 tests, and I'll be in the Republic on Thursday. Can't wait!

I am calling the park shortly to get me spot, so count us IN! Sorry I had to wait so late but I had to get a few other ducks in a row to make this happen.

I just talked to the park and they had a few things wrong.
There are 8 spots available, and will be taken away from us in 7 days.
These spots are:
116
117
118
218
221
225
317
318
Rally attendees are in:
119-Westfalia
219-Unk
223-Unk
222-Knutson
224-Cap-N-Red
226-judybug
319-Sphere Guy
320-Sphere Guy
321-Soldiermedic
323-Sams
226-Unk
The unknown tags were for attendees that I was unfamiliar with their last names (which I don't want to post here). Judging by the sign up page I am not counting Pileus, PaulAir, Deb and Ken, stowaways, and richhog. I will work on putting together a rally map, but looks like there is a small cluster with a few of us scattered.

Deb,
They did not have you listed. To ensure you get the rally rate, please contact them and let them know.

Sam,
There has been a great deal of rain in San Antonio lately, but unsure on San Marcos. From what Amy tells me, there should not be a burn ban in effect for the rally.

Hate to say what Robin? It is scheduled to rain all this weekend which is good to eliminate the burn ban. The rally isn't until June 1st, so the forecast isn't even out for then yet.

It's been pouring here for the last few days (yes!!) But Robin is right for this weekend. Guess it's going to be a wet Mothers Day campout for me. We are headed to Garner State Park. I would mind the rain, if I had a tent, but this is why we have an Airstream!
Look forward to seeing everyone in June!

The hail I could have done without. I was seriously freaking when they were reporting baseball sized hail in the storm that was coming right for us. Fortunately, it dissipated to just marble size and not even much of that.
