Who's Bringing the Toddies?

Mary and I will be in attendance with the 345. Looking forward to a clear, dark night. I understand that Saturn is in prime position for viewing right now.

We plan to arrive on Friday in order to take advantage of the “star gazing” lecture the park provides on Friday night.

Mike and Lora also have a confirmed reservation for their trailer.

We will probably travel 290 towards Austin if anyone in Houston is interested.

Next time

We went there over new years day and really enjoyed the park. Saw 3 Bald eagles on the boat cruise and enjoyed the hiking. Had good dinners at the lodge as well. don't think we can make that weekend though but I'll check.

Looks like we'll be able to join ya'll. here's the link to the park, Hope the weather is clear, for some great star gazing Friday night, and a nice day Saturday for hiking. Always wanted to take the river boat cruise to spot the wintering bald eagles on the lake. Mike http://www.canyonoftheeagles.com/park.htm

Cool Vanishing Texas River Cruises

Here is the link for the Vanishing Texas River Cruises
They depart from within the park at 11 am everyday except Tuesday. The cost is $16.50 for the 2 hour tour to see the eagles. There is also a 4 hour tour that leaves at 9am. I think it includes lunch and cost around $30.00 ,but check their web page. You will want to go to their web page and make Reservations if you want to take a cruise, especially this time of year when there all lots of eagles in the park they get booked out. (reservations are made on the toll free phone line 1-800-474-8374) The boat dock is an easy walking distance from the RV park, it leaves from the park store which is just over the hill from camp. I think we will sign up for the 11am ride on Saturday, I too always wanted to go, I have seen lots of eagles out there in the winter but often far away. looking foward to seeing all the eagles and all the Airstreamers! Pot Luck on Saturday?

Sadly ...

I have a long-standing previous committment on that weekend.

COE is a great place to visit and I have taken the boat to see the eagles in the past. I'm sure everyone will have a great weekend.

Thumbs up FUN...

Airstreams, eagles, river cruises, pot luck and good people what else can you ask for.
Our little tradition on these forum camp-outs has been the door prize after our pot luck dinners. This time I want to to suggest that you bring your most unwanted christmas gift to contribute as a door price. Imagine, you could be the winner of someones incredible gift or may even win your own. Not a requirement by all means, just a suggestion.
If you decide to bring one (per unit, not one per person), please wrap it in festive paper.

Unhappy Bald Eagle Cruises

The 2 hour "Eagle" tour on Saturday is full, I just tried to call and they said NO! They still have space for the $30/ 4 hour cruise, but that's to long for me. They have space on the cruise on Friday and on Sunday also, sooo we may sign up for that, but probably not. Now I remember why I never got on that ride, it's always full when I am there. Funny I made the post and then didin't get in in time, if you snooze you loose!
I guess I will just have to wait for a giant eagle to pick my Airstream up in it's tallons and fly me around the lake .Now there's a view!
PS if you get up early and take your binocs down to the lake you will see Eagles! IF you take the trails down to the lake side esp, in the am you Will see eagles. They are there and we will be there you just have to look UP.

I'll remember to bring some heavy duty tie downs to keep my Airstream from being Airborne. You'd expect eagles to be really really big in Texas.

Maybe we're in

Although some talk went around at Blanco about this park, I've not been visiting the forum enough to see plans were stirring. I haven't seen if sites remain or what the weather is, be we will be checking tomorrow. I see folks have filled the Sat cruise. Maybe I need to bring a canoe.

Just made reservations!

All - my wife and I will be there. Just made reservations for Friday & Saturday night. This is only our second trip since purchasing the trailer in Raleigh, NC and we are looking forward to it. Will be nice to meet some fellow Airstream owners.

Is there a potluck? And if so what can we bring?

Thanks,
Joe

We are now nine, maybe ten!

You bet, there will be a pot luck on Sat evening. Bring your own main dish, and a side to share, and sample whatever's on the table. Grilling around the communal fire pit is usually a problem due to lack of space, but no one gets turned away. This is a non-planned event, so it truly is “pot luck”.

With you, we will be 4 motor homes and 5 (maybe 6) trailers!

Oops!

No communal fire - the fire ban is still in effect.

Guess we'll have to resort to alternative means to combat the chilly breezes.

Still 6 sites available for both Fri and Sat nights.
