Please add us for New Year's Eve, and I will be glad to bring whatever is needed. I read something about raffle items somewhere... what kinds of items are needed?''

Thanks!!

No raffle items needed, there are local businesses and our favorite rally “sponsor” Foley RV help to provide prizes and giveaways!
But thanks for asking

We have posted here previously about trying to get into the Canopener. With time running short, I thought I'd make one last pitch to try and obtain a spot from a last minute cancellation since my other methods have not been able to get one.

We are recent Airstream owners, having purchased a Globetrotter in April, 2018. We realize we are working from a disadvantage being new owners and haven't had time to develop a network of fellow Airstream owners it probably takes to know when spots open up.

We did attend the Alumalina rally in Marion this past October. It is there we met several Southeast Unit members who mentioned the Canopener to us. I didn't get the last names but we met Lisa who owns a spot at the Airstream only TCPC campground in TN / Lucious and Danielle who made a presentation on retirement planning / Kim and Kate who are retired National Park Rangers, as well as several others at the Beer sharing event.

Lisa is the one that told us about the Canopener and that it was a hard event to get into. We have been checking since October as we are headed to the Keys the week after the event and thought it would be a good way to kick off our trip a week early.

It seems like a you guys have an active unit. If we can can't get in this year we will start the process earlier for 2020 as it sounds like a great event.

I'm an strong South Carolina Gamecock fan. Since my Gamecocks laid down in the 2nd half against Georgia and blew a 16 point lead in the 4th Qtr against Florida, I figure there might be at least one Dawg or Gator fan that might want to return the favor if they have a last minute cancellation.

Here's hoping that I get a PM from a last minute cancellation. If not, we hope everyone has a great Holiday season and we will probably see you at future events next year.

Just curious how many people are wanting to get in and can't ? Maybe an overflow list would let someone know the demand for future plans?

CFW would be Channing if autocorrect didn't "fix it" for me.

By the way, Tara7, Airstim, and BassCan (and us) got in after cancellations were posted. So keep in touch. I'm not sure about the effectiveness of the FaceBook page since I (and many others) either do not use, or deliberately try to avoid FaceBook.

Phil
Ps, the picture was from 2 days ago in Wytheville KOA. We're on our way to Maryland for Christmas with friends, and a 3 day road trip to Connecticut sans trailer.

There’s always a chance to get a site via a cancellation. THEE best way is for those that have to cancel to post here FIRST. It’s then the responsibility of those wanting a spot to monitor this site and the FB site like all the time, all day every day......yup, that’s just the way it is!!!! Connect with each other and get on the phone together with RA to make the transfer. Then be ready to pack up and leave!!!
Good luck to all.

Attention all Canopian musicians!!: The infamous and relatively fabulous Aluminotes will once again attempt to gather all interested musicians to perform (jam) as often as there are strings to be plucked/bowed/twanged and notes to be sung. Please bring your musical instruments and/or talents, regardless of skill level, to our nightly jam sessions in the pavilion. Help us make this year, our third, the best seen to date!!

Rock on!

For those looking for a site I'd encourage you to list your desire with Wandering Labs: http://reserve.wanderinglabs.com

That way if someone who's not a Canopener person cancels their site you'll be alerted. That's how we got our site several months ago, and got site's at several other campgrounds since then.

Good luck, hope to see you there!

Canopener 2019 Map Updates 12/17/2018

Lots of changes since the last map update. I've tried to capture them all but I'm sure there are errors. If you see something that needs to be changed, please PM me or post on the thread.

I'll incorporate all of the final changes in one more update after December 25.

Here are links to the updated maps:

Canopener 2019 Map sites 1-99

Canopener 2019 Map Sites 100-168

If you haven't yet RSVP'd for the rally (a campsite reservation is not a rally reservation), please go to the official rally RSVP page at the link below and register. Scroll to the bottom of the RSVP page, indicate if you are going or cancelling, in the box type your site number, first names of the people in your party, and date of arrival. Then hit the "submit" button for your RSVP to post.

Hi Chuck, I updated my entry on the RSVP page. The map has the wrong names at site #126 as Danny & Joyce had to cancel. Now it should be Mary & Kevin Short.

Chuck,

I just looked at your latest map and somehow we are not showing up on the map anymore. SMLJeep, Gordon and Denise should be in site 129 from 12/27/2018 to 01/06/2019. Denise confirmed this with the park today.

Thanks,
Gordon
