Canopener 2015

Cornhole Tournament

The 2015 Canopener Cornhole Tournament Champion is Levon. Congratulations! We had a great cornhole tournament yesterday with 29 competitors. As Alumitator mentioned a couple of posts ago, $315 was raised from donations for the Cynthia Thoede fund. Thank you Canopenians for your generousity!

Many thanks to those of you that filled the tip jar during Margaritaville. We collected $150 which will be donated to The Friends of the Park, a nonprofit group of volunteers that help out around here in many ways. Now the challenge. The tip jar will appear again when Annette begins serving her famous Bloody's later this morning. I doubt she will collect as much as we did, but...............................

Please make your way over to site 81 today as we'd love and appreciate some input on simple fixes/covering for the dresser/tabletop in our bedroom area. Contact info will be on the sink so you can shoot any ideas you may have over to us later. Much appreciated. And remember, she's a work in progress :-) ~ Jared & Joy

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to visit with us during the open house. It was fun meeting so many new people and hearing about your experiences. Sorry we had to slip away early from tonight's live entertainment, but it was a little chilly for the baby. Hope to see you again at breakfast tomorrow. For those of you who had questions or wanted information about some of our upgrades, please message me and I will be glad to get back with you with the requested information. We will definitely be making reservations for next year's Canopener!

Went by as fast as Panama Red and Mrs. Panama Red did on that awesome Canopener buggy!

This has been so much fun! When is the next Canopener? Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to make this event happen. Now that we have gotten our feet wet we will know how to pitch in next year. Already counting the days...well, maybe months right now.

We realized two things. First, is that we stink at corn hole and second is that we got to meet a great group of fun loving guys and gals. When you are having fun time flys, no matter weather.

Great to meet you both and LOVED whooping you at corn hole. We'll have a rematch next year. Can't wait to see the upgrades to the cancycle and you new do-rag collection.

We had a blast at Canopener this year. Tom and Robin and all the other volunteers did a great job putting together this event. Many thanks to the vendors for providing the door prizes. I think just about everyone who was present won something.

Lots of great people, many new friends as well as some interesting Airstreams. The food was great, especially the potluck on Thursday. Only one real bad day of weather and that didn't stop too many people!

The staff at Topsail were top notch and the park was a true pleasure to visit. If you haven't been there, add it to your bucket list, but plan to make reservations early. It is a very popular destination.

Our original post said this was a fact finding mission. The fact is we meet a lot of very friendly people and had a great time. Saturday was a blur, to much to see and such a short time to see it in. Karen and I hope to see many of you at other events this year !! We are planning on attending Spingstream in April 2015. I am open to any other suggestions also. I'm retired but my wife has one more year, so keep that into consideration. This year has to be short and sweet, I have a liberal leave policy but my wife does not.

We are still here, leaving tomorrow. Went to Seaside tomight and had a great cuban sandwich at "The Meltdown on 30A", one of the Airstream food trailers. Met a lot of great folks and had a great time! Thanks to Tom and Robin and all the volunteers and the park staff too! See you next year.

It was fun meeting you and your family! The tour of your trailer was also a real treat. Dishwasher? Central Vac?

Canopener 2015

I don't know about the rest of you, but this weekend went by so fast. There were many folks I really wanted to visit with and get to know better but our "host" duties limited us this year. Next year I plan to catch up with more of you.

Thought you might be interested in some official numbers we finalized today:

1. Total Airstreams attending: 103

2. Total amount raised during Cynthia Theode Cornhole Tournament: $335 (donated to Gadsten Street United Methodist Church in her memory).

3. Total amount raised during Margarita and Bloody Mary events: $280 (donated to the Friends of Topsail Park)

Well done, Canopenians!
