Burning Man 2021? Planning thread...

Hello Airstreameri and friends. Whew. Glad 2020 is in our rear view mirror.
Hopefully this year will be happier and healthier and we can all look forward to enjoying some dust together on the Playa this summer.

So far there is no official announcement confirming an actual Burn this year. "They" are counting down the days until The Man burns but we aren't yet sure if that will be virtual or ???. For now we can tentatively plan and post any and all updates as we hear about them. Keep your eye on the JRS newsletter.

Hope everyone is doing well!
Cheers,
Bam (aka Laurel)

In my opinion the first step in BM2021 planning is to get vaccinated! Jillybean and I have had our first dose of the Moderna, and hope to get the second one by early next week.

Ready to go!

It'll be the first time with the AS. Well, sorta, we were a little naughty as the BMORG goes, and did spent the Labor day weekend on the Playa last year. BLM said "come on out", so a few of our regulars did just that. BLM estimated maybe 2500-3000 people total, spread out over miles and miles.

I would think the BMORG is waiting to see how the vaccine will roll out.

Looking forward to seeing ya'll in the dust.

Happy New Year dustyites. I've been working straight through this thing, don't even have time tonite to say hi, concrete pour tomorrow at the new Olinghouse NV Energy substation. Unless this forcasted "blizzard" shuts the pour down. 1600 acres of new solar panels going in just between Wadsworth and Nixon, something to look for on your next trip to the playa. First phase, 3500 acres of panels total proposed.

Yep. I am awaiting my turn for the vaccine and will offer up my arm as soon as it’s available.

Meanwhile I’m doing a little playa prep here and there...there is still a lot of dust in a lot of surprising places and I’m working on some camp swag and lighting. Ah the things we do while staying at home more.

Lisa has been a greeter the past few years, so she just got a big questioner from the BMORG asking about things like whos willing to go, are you bringing your art car, how big is your camp and things like are you wiling to prove a negative test, or antibody test or proof of vaccination. And of course, if the event gets cancelled after tickets get sold, are you willing to donate your ticket(s)? Again.

So, looks like the BMORG is trying gauge the mood out there.

The only thing that will stop me from attending BM this year to see my friends and other Airstreameri & Whatnots WITH the "New & Improved" Vah-Gen-Nah Mutant Vehicle in tow are the CA/US border rules. I'm holding my breath!

I haven't been vaccinated yet but I'm on the top of the list.

Fingers crossed that it may happen this year but we are getting down to the wire.
Nothing official yet, but they are still sounding like a definite maybe.
Everyone is welcome if we can actually pull it off!

Well honk my hooter!

We're fairly new to the forum, but I correctly guessed, BEFORE perusing your Music Channel Posts, that you were a '60s-'70s Folk, Blue Grass, Acoustic kinda guy.

I did not peg you for a Black Rock City guy!? I stand corrected.

If this all comes together, come and see us at Sublime Oasis (3:15 & J) Peter. I'll fix you a cocktail and one of our campmates has an extensive collection of folk and bluegrass to check out. Love to see ya!!

Yep. Sadly, it's official. Not exactly unexpected but still disappointing.
Now there is more time to plan for an even better 2022.
Or maybe a meetup/rally/campout sometime before the dust flies next year...

Cheers!

OTRA15 sent me here.

It is canceled, officially, but I believe they are allowing some level of Boondocking gathering anyhow ... according to one source I know who has been, is a journalist, and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The land will be open for use, but no official infrastructure. That's the rumor.

I will try again next year to get into the official thing.
