What wonderful pics, Barbie. Thank you for sharing! I think I'm still covered with dust from their playtime!

Thanks Barbie, these are great shots of our dogs. We are still cleaning up all the dust the dogs stirred up. I think the dust is just a sampling of what you guys experience at Burning Man.
Wow, it is now just a week before we leave for Casini. The Mount Gay rum, tonic and limes are ready to load into the Airstream and we are ready to start happy hour as soon as we unhitch the trailer and before the stabilizers are deployed!
See you soon,

Hey!
Just back from 7 days in Yosemite, and had zero signal the whole time..which was great but that meant no forum access..
we have some pics of the geode trip and also some aerial videos that my friends took with his quad copter.
I'll get that going soon and post here!
Thanks to Peter and Marie for putting this together, and I hope to see all of you again soon! We had a blast and although we popped some rivets, lost the glass on the medicine cabinet (among other things) on that road, it was a great location. Of course parking under giant trees and cooler weather a few days later was a nice counterpoint..
Cheers,
Chris and merah!

At the end of the geodes rally, I promised another boondocking event, but this time with some water. I'm making good on my promise (albeit with very cold water). If you haven't already seen the thread, here's a link.

Hmm, another fantastic rally, methodically planned, and hosted by Peter?
Looks beautiful! We love the Shaver Lake area, haven't been that far back, but we are looking forward to it.
We're in!

geode rally schedule?
Is anyone planning another geode rally? I read about the one last year and it sounded awesome! I've been waiting for a post about one this year, but haven't seen anything.

worldinchaos, who initiated the rally last year, isn't on the forum every day. You could send him a private message (click on his name to the left of the first post and click on the "contact info" link in the line of links below his picture in his profile). Posting to his profile puts a publicly viewable message on his profile page, but those aren't linked to email notifications as often as private messages are.
If he's not interested in hosting or co-hosting another geode rally, you might consider hosting it yourself or ask around for someone with a bit of experience to do it with you. We're pretty booked and a bit far away (SF Bay Area) but I'll bet there are others from last year's trip who'd like to do it again.

hey! we might be up for it! full disclosure, we just went last weekend but it was kind of impromptu, so didnt have time to tell anyone.
this time we stayed at coon hollow campground, and took some amazing sunset photos, and using my GPS we located a number of different sites and came away with a bucket of geodes, another of agate etc. lots of trekking through the desert, but the weather was amazing! february is definitely primetime.
we used blue-paint tape to help seal the drawers and nothing fell or broke this time. as opposed to last time..

Hey everyone, I would love to go again as well, but my problem was that I'm finishing up a night and weekend master's program and have nearly zero free weekends. However, this was a good nudge, and there is actually one that might work: April 4-6. Does anyone know of other conflicting takes that weekend? I might plan a trip for that weekend now regardless, but if there aren't enough others interested in geodes, ill shift it to somewhere like Anza Borrego.

Oh, we so want to go to Anza Borrego!
We have Mrs Mod's Three River's rally in middle of March, and the NorCal Casini Ranch Middle of April but we'd be seriously tempted if you did a rally in Anza.
Peter, we'll sure be missing you and Marie this next weekend while we're hiking to the bat caves at the Pinnacles National Park

Starting June, our travel frequency is increasing dramatically. I miss Pinnacles. Haven't been there in years, but I do love that hiking loop that goes through both sets of caves. Makes a great long day, but even the shorter cave hikes done independently from either side are lots of fun.

Awesome! I've had three large bags full of varying sizes from my two different trips to the Hauser beds. I finally bought a tile saw for our home projects, and made sure to buy a 10" so that I could also use it for the geodes I've been saving. I already opened some great amethyst geodes with over 2" hollow centers, and some beautiful nodules of different colors. I'll post some pictures to entice more people to attend next year.
We will definitely have to pick some different beds than Hauser this year. I plan on doing a little exploration Friday to try our luck at different locations, try to lock down a good dig site, and then come back Saturday with the rest of the group.
I also still want to do that river boondocking trip that everyone talked about last time (canoes? rafts?) but with everything so dry this year there aren't many good options.
