ALUMALINA…...SOME GOOD THINGS TO KNOW
TOM JOHNSON CAMPING CENTER, 1885 US 70 WEST, MARION, NC
The Tom Johnson Rally Park features rally style parking, meaning side by side, back to back, in rows.
Everyone has their own full hook up. We will all be close neighbors but with ample room to open awnings, set up camp, and park your tow vehicle.
We have sites near the Pavilion and Bath House designated as handicap. Let us know if you need one, we are happy to oblige.
No one is required to be a member of any Club. We are all here for the same reason…to enjoy each other, and celebrate the Airstream lifestyle.
CAMPING WORLD is located at the front of the property. Across the street in the SERVICE CENTER building is the CAMPGROUND OFFICE, and the TOM JOHNSON CAFÉ.
Marion NC is a town of approximately 8500 people and is the county seat for McDOWELL COUNTY. Elevation 1400’. By contrast, nearby Mt Mitchell is 6683’.
The nearest grocery, fuel, restaurants, and Lowes are only 1.5 miles east of the park. Downtown Marion about 5 miles to the east.
The nearest Veterinarian is ANIMAL HOSPITAL OF MARION, 1885 US 70 West, app 1 mile east of the Park. 828.724.4774
Nearest URGENT CARE is McDOWELL URGENT CARE, 472 Rankin Drive, Marion.
PROPANE can be purchased at the SERVICE CENTER, or ACE HARDWARE, 1612 Rutherford Rd, Marion.
ICE can be purchased 24 hours at the self-service Ice House 1.5 miles east of the Park.
While you are here be sure to check out downtown Marion, Asheville, Black Mountain, the Blue ridge Parkway, and Mt. Mitchell.
The Campground will furnish firewood for the large fire pit at the pavilion. If you have a campfire at your rig please make sure it is in an above ground pit.
We encourage everyone to wear a name badge of some sort, so we can all put a face with the name. We will have badges available if you need one.

Late October in the NC mountains should be a carpet of color. The town of Marion is surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains, with the BR Parkway and Mt Mitchell keeping an eye on things below.
Generally, October brings some of our very best weather to the region. Cool nights, pleasant days with very little humidity.
Marion will be a great base camp for those that can come early and stay late. Just a short hop to Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mtn, Biltmore Estate, and lots of other great spots.

We are returning once again to the Tom Johnson Rally Park in Marion, NC for our 13th gathering of Alumalina.
October 22-25, 2020
As always, 4 days of food, fun, fellowship, seminars, craft fair/flea market, beer swaps, Bourbon Trails, open house, walking, talking, crawling, biking, hiking, campfires, and plenty of paroozing.

The Tom Johnson Rally Park features nearly 300 full hook up sites in rally style parking, all on beautiful, flat, level grass.
A bath house, handicap parking, café across the street, restaurants and shopping just down the road, walking trails, the Catawba River, lots of open green space, and Camping World all right there. Plus, a huge Pavilion for all activities.
All this for $32/ night camping fee. We will have a modest rally fee, TBD, but as always....a bargain.
There is no need to call the Park for a reservation, we will have the entire Park. Just post to this thread so we can make plans.
No reservation, no advanced rally fee, simply PAY WHEN YOU ARRIVE. Come early, stay late, same rate.
The Tom Johnson Rally Park is located in Marion, NC, "Where Mainstreet Meets the Mountains". In the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains and the shadows of the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is prime time for fall foliage in the NC mountains.
Mt Mitchell, highest point east of the Mississippi, is less than an hour away on the Parkway.
Down town Marion is only 5 miles away, with restaurants, breweries, wineries, shops, and all sorts of good stuff.
Asheville, Black Mountain, Biltmore House, Hendersonville, and much more are all just a short distance away.

Hands-on Cocktail Class and The 4th Annual Beer Swap
Hello all!
This year Sue (Glcmranger) and I (Tam) will be teaching a Hands-on Salted Caramel Martini class. I used to teach cocktail classes at a small shop in my town so I have enough cocktail shakers, Lenox crystal martini glasses and all other necessary supplies for 10 people to participate. We will supply the booze so there is no need to bring a thing; we have it all covered. I usually give a demo first then everyone will follow along and make their own beautiful Salted Caramel Martini. Sue is thinking if by chance we have more than ten people sign up, we might be able to do a second class if it does not infringe on any other activity. She will have a sign up sheet available at the pavilion.
Also, Steve will be hosting the 4th Annual Beer Swap again this year. “Bring a beer, take a beer, drink a beer”. In the past everybody that participated brought some very interesting beers.
We are looking forward to another fun year.

Your Martini class and the beer swap are part of what makes Alumalina so successful. Folks stepping up to add to the good times, sharing the Airstream love, and making it what the great rally it is.
Let's make it part of the "Pop UP Seminars" on Saturday afternoon, coinciding with the beer swap and Bourbon Trail. Maybe 3:00 or so...your call. No time limit.

A lot of info has come across in nearly 300 posts.
Please rest assured that we will have a complete rally packet waiting for you, including all schedules, times, info, and events, so no one is left guessing, and no one will be left out.
And, we will repost along the way so you do not have to read everything previously posted.
We want everyone to come and enjoy whatever parts you want to enjoy, there will be much to choose from.
The Tom Johnson Rally Park is a wonderful venue. If you choose not to gather, there is plenty of open green space and sites for separation.
Walking trails, pavement for biking/walking, the Catawba River for paddling, and enough treatment for Alumanitus for at lease a year.

Let's make it part of the "Pop UP Seminars" on Saturday afternoon, coinciding with the beer swap and Bourbon Trail. Maybe 3:00 or so...your call. No time limit.
To everyone....I have been on the Alumalina Bourbon Trail. You will like it. If you are interested, bring a bottle to submit for sampling. Or.... just come. You will still like it!
