ALUMALINA 2015 Fall gathering

OK friends, time to begin planning for our Fall gathering. This will be #8 and as always, expect the same great friends, food, fellowship, seminars, open house, door prizes, lots of paroozing, and of course Rita.

The dates are October 22-25 at the Palmetto Cove RV Rally Park near Cleveland, SC.

We have decided to move the gathering to ''the Cove'' this fall which features 140 full hook up sites, wifi, a meeting hall with kitchen, tables and chairs. Also a large, covered pavilion with a huge rock fireplace (they even furnish the firewood), and a very comfortable lounge with kitchenette. The meeting hall , pavilion, and lounge come at no cost to our rally.

Parking fee is a bargain at $25 per night (includes all taxes). There are restrooms but no shower facilities. You will pay your parking fee to the Cove when you arrive. They only take cash or checks.

The Cove is located just off SC scenic Hwy 11 near Cleveland, SC. in the shadows of Table Rock and Caesars Head Mountains. It has rally style parking, all in the open on beautiful thick grass. Originally built as an Airstream only park back in the 70's, it is now a member owned, not for profit park and open to all brands. The Saluda River runs along the back edge of the property.

No reservations will be necessary with the Park, there is plenty of room. We do need everyone to PLEASE register on the RSVP page so we can plan.

Along with our regular menu of hot dogs and possum bog, we plan to have our Saturday Night Fish Fry as well. We will be asking for a small rally fee to help with some of the costs.

We already have commitments from several sponsors and expect this to be another great gathering. The full hookups, meeting hall, pavilion, and the natural beauty of the area should combine to make this a great event. Plus, no reservation to make...or break.....makes it much easier. Just pay when you arrive.

So go ahead now and mark your calenders, and please be sure to register on the RSVP page.

You will like it.

Sounds like a move to a good location, John.

Many advantages to the new site, not the least of which is no line-up at the dump station.

Being a veteran of the first Alumalina, complete with rain, hail and high winds, shelter from the weather has some distinct advantages. Regardless of what Mother Nature chooses to bestow, folks can gather and be together without interference from the elements.

We won't be able to make the Fall gathering, but I hope returning devotees and newbies will follow our fearless leader to the Cove and give this a chance.

It is the people first, the location second....in my humble opinion.

Have a great time!

Maggie

Questions

Hi,

Hubby and I are fairly new to Airstreaming and the forums. I just wanted to confirm that cost for the camping is $25 per night for full-hookups and we don't have to make reservations. Also, where is the RSVP page?

Hey Robin, you are correct, the campground rate is $25 per nite for full hook up. You need not reserve with ''the Cove'', there is always room. We request a registration on the RSVP page for planning purposes. Click on the Rallies and Meet Ups forum, then click on Alumalina Fall 2015. It should show a RSVP page there. Just a couple of clicks.

As folks reach out here, we will also keep a list going of attendees.

Thanks

John,

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Cove in October. What a great place to hold a rally. There are lots of outdoor activities for everyone.

Anne and I hope to see most in Ladson, SC in a few days at the Region 3 Rally.
Charleston is a fun city to visit.

Off and running

Thanks everyone for posting on the RSVP page, it is a huge help. It is important we know approximately how many are coming for planning purposes. I did a little cut and paste, this is the list so far...I think. Please add or delete if need be.

With the move to the ''Cove'' we will not have a site map as before . All the sites are exactly the same, you park anywhere you want, and no reservation needed.

Sandlapper,

Wow the fall gathering is off to a great start. 25 yes in a weeks time. Lets see if there are a 140 spaces, the gathering maybe full before June 1st. What a Carolina Connection of fellow Airstreamer's.

We will have to start gathering possums by the middle of August to have enough (other white meat) for the Friday night possum bog? With the fish fry Saturday night no one should go away hungry.

Anne and I are looking forward to the Region 3 Rally in a couple of weeks in Ladson, SC. Looking at the daily agenda we will be real busy in the AM and then playing in the PM.

See ya down the road.

John & Anne
