A great time had by many!!
Thanks for allowing our "SOB" into this gathering!! I promise we'll get our Airstream done by the next one.
Looking forward to next year. Thanks to everyone who made this such a casual yet very organized event. Food, location, prizes, more food, and smiles. Nailed it!
Great group of folks enjoying a common interest. Loved it!!!

Skunky Propane Refill

Has anyone ever gotten some really bad "dirty" propane - and does it go bad like gasoline over time? Hope no one else had this problem at Alumalina - next rally I'll definitely fill the tanks at home!

Ran out of propane during the rally. The campground about 4 miles away sells propane, so made a "no problem" run down there and filled both tanks. A bit pricy but much simpler than going hunting for another source... BUT

One day after returning my water heater got a big red light and stopped working and my stove wouldn't light until I opened both tanks. At first I thought the man hadn't filled one tank even though he charged for both. Checked by weight and feel and both tanks have propane in them... but when I put the water heater on "gas" I'm now getting a huge flare of soot all over the side of my Airstream. Went out and wiped that off and switched to electric only BUT in order to get my stovetop to light at all I have to turn on at least two burners - or use a match. Either way it's a huge "whoof" when it lights and I have to do an eyebrow check to make sure I didn't lose one or both.

The odds that the regulator went bad at the same time I refilled? Not much. Anything else to do but use this stuff up as fast as possible - or maybe add more fresh propane to the tanks before they're completely empty?

Thanks for help.

Paula

FoiledAgain - Propane is already a few million years old when it comes out of the ground so being stored in an air tight container for a few decades above ground does nothing to 'age' it or make it go bad. That said, it can be contaminated but the chance that happened before delivery is too remote to discuss. The gas leaves through the top of the tank and any contamination like moisture drops to the bottom so it can't exit. Your problem more likely is with your ODP valve, pressure regulator, or flexible connection hose despite your skepticism.

Thank you Lynetta, and any others, that have reached out to thank our sponsors. I know for sure it goes a long way when it comes time to solicit help for our rally. I speak to these folks first hand and it makes it much easier when they have received a pat on the back for their efforts.

On another note, I have cleared the final hurdle for our Spring gathering. I will post the dates and details tomorrow. Stay tuned......

Announcing the ALUMALINA SPRING 2016 EDITION

It gives us great pleasure to announce the dates for the Spring gathering:

MARCH 31 - APRIL 3, 2016

We will return to the PALMETTO COVE RV Rally park for another fine time.

I will set up the RSVP page and a new thread very soon.... in the mean time, go ahead and mark your calendar for the 9th edition.

More of the same.....great food, friends, fellowship, seminars, raffles, door prizes, and of course....lots of Aluminum. And Rita.

No need to make a reservation with Palmetto Cove, they are closed for the season and will reopen in time for our rally. They have asked us to limit the attendees to 125 rigs, might can squeeze in a couple more.

I will keep track of the numbers here.

If you were there for the Fall ball, please come back for the Spring fling. If you have never been to either....here is your chance.

You will like it.

John, Susan, and the crew.

As a matter of fact I do Maggie. I set them with the Palmetto Cove several months back. They like to set their rally dates well in advance.

They are October 27 - 30 , 2016.

Okay, now that the possum is out of the pot, go ahead and mark your calendar for the Fall edition everyone.

Smile Alumalina Spring & Fall 2016 Edition

Mr. Sandlapper,

We have marked our 2016 Airstream calendar with both of the Alumalina dates . Thank you for giving them out so we can put them into our long range planning for 2016.

Now to the serious planning for gathering enough possums. I nearly got into a jam with Ronnie and Hank and the number of possums I brought to the Cove this fall. It helps me with setting monthly goals for my possum trout lines both up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the flat lands. Now I need to see if i can get the use of the chicken hauler twice next year to bring in the crop?

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with family and friends and remember the reason for the season.

Anne and John

Yay! You managed to avoid conflict with Cajun Country Caravan which we are attending. This gives us a week to get from South Louisiana to Palmetto Cove, assuming nothing else interferes. We really enjoyed Fall 2014 and were disappointed not to make either of the 2015 rallies.

Thanks, John.

Don't think I can make the Soring rally, as I will need to be home by then, but am planning on the Fall.

XO. Maggie.

Even after the list fills have no fear plenty of folks will cancel at the last minute.

I will be in for the Spring Alumalina, but the Fall event falls on the same weekend of the World of Outlaws at the Dirt Track of the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
