I love my beret, fits just right and fools people into thinking I know what I'm doing.
If they only knew!!
There were 2 little kids there, gave me the "I didn't know Santa was an Airstreamer"
stare. Santa drives a silver sleigh.
The State Rally was good, but about 20 rigs short of the usual 50. A sign of the times for Club rallys. However, any time Airstreamers can gather is a good time, although much different than Falluminum. We had a group of 5 of us parked together on the outskirts of the main group. Needless to say we enjoyed ourselves.
Falluminum drew about 35 rigs I think. Spectacular color, perfect weather, great crowd. A REALLY good time.
Trick or treat: already have a few tricks up our sleeve for March.

Dutch Oven Workshop, D.O.W.
Folks,
I had a chat with Maggie and John and all nodded their heads to the idea of some kind of Dutch Oven Workshop. Maggie can cook up a storm with her DO's and I'm decent but need training on the baking side of DO's hence the D.O.W. idea. Plan is to bring our DO's and just start cooking and sharing. I'm hoping Maggie can set me up with her bread making technique and I'm hoping to do a pie or two in addition to well, whatever we can come up with as a how to do it.
Further details as we go.
So if you have a DO and want to join in, you're already invited and maybe we can set up a stack of DO's too, who knows.
The DO is an old cooking tool and a gotta have it if you enjoy fireside cooking, it bakes, it simmers, it stews, it roasts about the only chore that I hold off on is just boiling water in one myself. Two varieties the camp DO and the plain DO. The camp DO has feet to raise it up and its lid is flanged to set coals on for baking.
And John asked if we can do pancakes again, you bet we can.

To be perfectly transparent , we bake in ours but don't stack, bury, roast or any of those things.
We are happy to share what we have learned with anyone who is interested.

I am already ready.
We were at Falluminum last weekend, Saturday brunch was potluck. Tons of tasty stuff everywhere. Without a doubt, the best, most tasty thing there was a DO omlet . Loaded with all the great breakfast omlet ingridients, cooked to perfection. Awesome.
Gotta get the recipe.

Well I've got my old trailer in a hundred pieces went to clean the carpet and wound up working on the rear end separation that is endemic in these older ones...say maybe I'll have something new to talk about in the spring!

Up to 22 trailers already (if I can count today...some days I can't ), and this thread only up 2 1/2 weeks.
Wherever will the count be by rally time nearly 5 months from now?
I am experimenting with a new bread recipe that I may have somewhat perfected for the DO by March.
Hunkering down for winter, here in central Illinois. Interstate is winterized, everything inside washed and ziplocked up (I like clean) and the rig in to Peterbilt for its' final service job and once-over for the year.
Stay safe, y'all.....
Maggie
