Alumalina was my first rally -- and it was a great way to "break-in" to the Airstream family. Just a wonderful group of people. Oh, and the food is pretty awesome as well! Let's hope for nice weather.

Hey Barry, be sure not to tell Mtnlvrs about first timers possum skinning duties. To make it even better this year, we have an extra fat one we're gonna grease up for a possum wrestling contest.

Visit with fun folks new and past, oh what a blast..

Enjoying life like this there is no price..nice..

So glad some first timers will be joining us. You will LOVE Alumalina. What a great way to meet fellow Airstreamers. We have so much fun (and never go hungry). The weather?? Who would believe it would "only" be 75 here today in Charleston. That is at least 10 degrees lower than usual but I am sure it will heat up again. Just pack shorts, jeans and a jacket - you'll make it.
Just than a month to wait....

One for the road

'Twas a month before Alumalina and all through the south
all the Streams sat ready, parked by the house.

Polished and shining, eager to go
the last 4 weeks are passing too slow.

Waiting to hitch up and roll out of town
back to a gathering where good times abound.

Blue striped Zip Dees and Flamingos in pink
Homemade curtains hang by the sink.

The site all picked out, the menu made
throw open the awning and come sit in the shade.

Some bring chips, some bring dip
some bring a jar so we can all take a sip.

Good food is plentiful, all first rate
Just bring your utensils and a really big plate.

Don't forget your stories, it's been a whole year
old friends and new friends, we all want to hear.

Shop talk, recipe swaps, and open house too
not nearly enough time for so much to do.

Before we are ready it will be time to head home
with fresh new memories to take as we roam.

So hitch up carefully to your silver abode
Safe travels to everyone, we'll see you down the road!!!!

We've decided to crash the rally --two Atlantans and a sometimes noisy dog. Look forward to Alumalina!

A check of the Park website shows only 11 sites left. If you are contemplating coming, better go ahead and reserve. If your plans change you can move your reservation or for a small fee just cancel. It is a popular park and often fills on the weekends.

We are still working on a bit of a schedule and a menu, but as of now we're thinking our almost famous possum bog for Friday nite so no one needs to prepare anything , just get there and relax. Saturday morning pancake breakfast, followed by a couple of informal seminars, lunch on your own, then an afternoon of open house/trailer paroozing ending with happy hour/ supper, maybe a potluck. We have some really good door prizes to give away after supper. Sunday breakfast , maybe coffey/pastries.

I will nail it all down and post more details soon. For now, just focus on getting there safely and having a good time.

As before, we will be at the mercy of the weather so prepare accordingly. If you have one of those 10x10 push up tents please bring it just in case. We will have a nice open grassy area near the center to make Rally Headquarters.

All sites have a fire ring so perhaps a central camp fire.

Remember the Park is about 10 miles from the Interstate, follow the signs. When you get to Hwy 21, turn left, go about 3 miles, turn right on River Road, continue app 5 mile to the entrance on the left.

It is a bit remote (a good thing) so pack in what you need (you won't need much).

Fishing, paddleing, walking, biking. All good.

There seems to not be any "typical" weather anymore, especially this year, but September is "typically" still fairley warm in mid SC. The campground is heavily forested and sometimes it seems even hotter down there.

We will post more details later. Things are shaping up for another splendid time and we look forward to seeing everyone.

John

An extra treat

There is a full moon on Sept 19, so a big moon all weekend. A beautiful site rising over the Lake.

OK folks, glad you're coming. I had already inquired about you two with a mutual low country friend, who reported they hadn't heard, so glad to hear from you.

Definately see you soon.
