Illinois state parks shut down today until further notice. Hopefully this thing is over by the beginning of June.

Yeah, I was just going to post on this. I'm hoping for the best since I really believe that the risk in a campground if probably minimal. As I noted we can adjust the activities. Bottom line in 8 weeks we should have a pretty good handle on how things are going in the country.

I'm not sure if the reservation site is taking reservations, but if it is, I'd still do a reservation. If things open up there will be a lot of folks who will be yearning to get out and things will fill up fast!

It appears from this mornings news of the Covid 19, transmission can occur between people by mere breathing or talking. With the international being canceled, an our unit canceling events in June also the Denver New Car Show, our airstream is grounded for thecrest of the year
We, as a country do not have a handle on this situation, by seeing infection and desth numbers being the greatest the world has seen, ( so much winning) this disease is NO hoax.
I wouldnt plan on any gathering fwiw :-((

Illinois has extended the lockdown until April 30. We are keeping our reservation hoping that they will open by June.

Quite honestly we will continue forward, with some concern as to how this will unwind once the initial flurry starts to calm. Like others I will hold my reservation but I am a realist that I'm not sure if the current stay at home orders will be suddenly unleashed. I've got a feeling that it may become a slow unloosing of restrictions with a concentration on trying to minimize group gatherings. I think by May, Illinois parks will be making the decision for us. If you have reservations, understand that if the park stays closed you will be refunded your camping fees and will not incur a reservation charge on the refund.

If it looks like the park will open, let's talk together in early May and see where our collective minds are at in regards to the rally.

I'm in P16. I had it on the Rally Calendar response, but didn't know there was a thread until today.

Haha, no just came across it on line this morning. Bet I could have stickers made for our trailer doors though (they usually run about $3 per). Sure hope to see you all... itching to get out!

Bob and I are in F 9.
Hoping we can get out to see everyone again.
I am still working as an NP. No elective surgeries, no routine office visits, can do telemedicine if needed. Talking to a lot of people on the phone. Working from home some days. Office building has only one entrance now and everyone is being screened on entry. Wearing a mask in the hospital. Now adding mask when going out and anticipating people contact.
In my over 40 years of nursing I have never seen anything like this.
Please everyone stay safe at home if you can. We have a lot of our neighbors doing the am and pm neighborhood walking keeping safe distances from each other. Kids had a chalk party. They left sidewalk chalk on all the driveways in our subdivision with a note to create something on your driveway for all to enjoy. It was really sweet.
Bright light for the future is to get out camping, traveling again, and seeing you all in June. If June gets cancelled we can always try for later.
Gina

Ps. Love the tshirt!

Last season when I had to cancel a reservation due to endless rain they charged $5 for each day that I cancelled.
We don’t plan to cancel unless the park is closed. E10 Thurs.-Sun. same as last year. Fingers crossed that we get to see everyone sometime this season.

Yeah I want so bad for this rally to happen. I even took a leave of absence from work to make sure I don't come down with this bug! Working in a grocery store puts a big target on your back. I'm thankful that our management is allowing folks to take a leave if they are concerned about their personal health or are in a higher risk factor.

As I noted earlier my gut is telling me that even if the park is cleared to open, I think we would be smart to modify the activities however. We will see how this goes. As for now I'm going to spend my time doing the things at home that I have been putting off the last couple of years. First task at hand is painting the kitchen.

I do have a reservation for a week up at a private campground located close to Egg Harbor Wisconsin (Door County) for August. I'm a lot more hopeful for that.

Stay well folks. Good to hear you are all out there holding on!

Jack

Illinois is opening a few parks on May 1 for day use. No camping. Moraine is not on the list but we’re still hopeful.

I just noticed that. Note there is a Moraine Hills opening, but this is a different park. They did note some of the limited openings in May were for swimming and boating. Moraine View has a lake so that might be in our favor in allowing our park to open. No word however if camping will be allowed in any of the state parks.

It's obviously touch and go at this point and if we do get the green light, I don't think that we should be doing the trailer tours, pot luck, and hot dog fest. I'll think about the movie side since we do have lots of room to spread out.

I can tell you that unless I get struck down by COVID-19 I have every intention of showing up if the park is open for camping. I've got my face masks ready!
