2010 Fall Colors Forum Rally

Couple quick questions. We are trying to figure out a wing recipe and ratios, what amount of wings will we be given to cook with?

Second, we are trying to determine what we would like to see in the area and how much the time allowances are. Any idea of what time the open house, cook off, etc. will be happening?

Jason,
You will be given as many or as few wings as you wish. The wings that are not taken will be cooked by our professional in-house chefs. As it stands today there are around 120 people signed up with a paid deposit. There are 35 trailers / motor homes, plus all the lease holders that will be participating as well.


The schedule will be very loose and you can come and go as you please. There are many things to do and see in the area, especially with the Clarion County Autumn Leaf Festival going on at the same time. Or one can kick back and just relax. I hope to have the loose schedule fleshed out and posted by early next week.

The plan is to combine open house and happy hour on Saturday. A roaming open house and happy hour worked pretty well last year so we decided to do it again this year. We will have the wing dinner / pot luck afterwards.

There is no need to worry about inclement weather as we have a large enclosed pavilion with a fireplace. So, if we get rain, we can move all the festivities inside.

We're working hard to plan a successful rally. The organizers will be at Penn Wood the entire week leading up to the rally, putting the finishing touches on the rally, working to get the park ready for everybody, and of course having some fun while doing it. If anybody has the vacation and means to come early, please do, we would love to have you. We promise not to put you to work.

As sites become available due to cancellations, I will make them available here.

All people who have already sent in their deposits will be guaranteed a full hookup site. Anybody wishing to attend after today’s date cannot be guaranteed a full hookup site.

Well Frank's on the ball. He called me last night and informed me that the end date for the rally in the first post of this thread is incorrect. I typed "10/02/2010" - It should be "10/03/2010". The dates in the rally calendar are correct. I hope I did not cause any undue confusion and I promise, we won't kick you out Saturday. Heck, you can come early and stay late if you want.

Unfortunately we will have to come late(school on Friday) and leave early(field hockey on Sunday). I apologize to those counting on me fixing breakfast everyday of the rally. I can only say Saturday the breakfast will be killer. If anyone want to help me cook it up send me a PM...

We're attending the rally, but are in need of some courtesy parking in or near Pittsburgh afterwards. The wife has a business conference and we have a hotel stay, but need somewhere to stash the Airstream. Any ideas?

I have plenty room for you to park. I'm about 8 miles south of the city zip 15102. We will be at Pennwood also. So no worries your hooked up.

Yes we have a site for you and your Argosy. If you would please, print the Attendance Form, and send it in as soon as possible.

I've admired your work on your Argosy and look forward to meeting you, Mrs. Boatdoc, and seeing the Argosy. We'll try to get you parked next to Happycampers and their '79 30' Argosy Costalota, which is another beautiful example of a restored Argosy.

We are really excited about the mix of trailers and mobile homes that will be at the rally. It will make the open house really interesting. The vintage units at the rally will far outweigh their newer brethren.

IC Light was a big seller here back in the 80s. Not anymore.

I not picky about my beer but it must be cold. I'll have a TAC mug chilled and ready to go!

We're heading up to Penn Wood this evening to stay the week leading up to the rally. We have a little bit of work to do in preparation for everybody's arrival.

Pack warm the high and low for the weekend is forecast to be 42° F - 68° F. Great weather for campfires. If you need propane for your furnaces we have it for sale on site (we cannot however fill MoHo LP tanks).

Some stats on the rally attendees...

34 Airstreams/Argosies + all the Penn Wood lease holder Airstreams (at least 37 more). So there will be plenty of aluminum to gawk at.

125 total people

Oldest Airstreams - A 1955 Comodore Vanderbilt 30' Liner and a 1955 16' California Whale Tail Bubble. We'll have to do a serial number compare to see who has the oldest '55. So bring your secret serial number decoder rings.

Newest Airstream - 2011 25' Flying Cloud

Longest Journey - (according to addresses on the Forum)
1. Perry, FL - 964 miles
2. Columbia, MO - 781 miles
3. Bradford, NH - 541 miles

And as we said before we're looking forward to meeting old friends, making new ones, showing everybody a great time, and fostering the Airstream spirit.
