2008 Moraine View Rally

Well we are back again for our 6th annual rally. Lots of things have changed and other things remain the same. The kids are growing up, our dogs have gotten old, our Airstreams may have changed, but you and I remain the same......right!

While I have lots to do to get this all together, we need you to start reserving dates on your calendar, so put the red circle around June 13th, 14th, and 15th. Second weekend in June. Pretty much like we have done it in the past.

Remember this is a state park and you are responsible to make your own reservations. Reservations are on a first come first served basis. The park is holding no spots for us but when you make your reservation, they will attempt to keep us all in one area. This rally is open to everyone so if you are thinking about Airstreams and own something else, please consider coming. We welcome everybody!

I'll post additional information deeper into the thread as we develop the activities for the weekend. We will be doing campfires and movies, trailer tours, Saturday night pot luck and who knows what else. I'm still thinking about a theme so I'll pass that on as time goes by.

And a final reminder, I know this is to many a long way off, but it is important to make the reservation. If you cancel your reservation, the deposit will be returned less $5. So 5 bucks is a minimal risk to guarantee your spot!

Our sites will be in the P50, P40, P30, and A sections of the campground. You can reserve a specific site if you wish, but be sure to include alternate sites in your choice. Currently I have reserved 3 sites, P40, A8 and A7. Moraine View folks also noted that sites P29, 30, & 31 have reservations with other folks not associated with this rally. Note that the movies, campfire, and pot luck seating will be in the A7-A6 area dependent upon weather and ground conditions.

Here is a link to the campground sites. http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt...mrvcampmap.pdf

Finally, while the dates of the rally are officially June 13, 14, and 15, you can come up earlier or stay later. Many of us head up there on Thursday, so you will find many of us arriving on the 12th. Note that check in and check out is 3 PM. Those who don't want to make a reservation can still come to claim one of the many non reservable sites. My suggestion is that if you want to do this, get there Thursday or early Friday.

Let me know once you get your confirmation and your site number. I'll keep track of that info and post it on this thread. If you rather not want that information posted, let me know. I'll just post the site as being taken without your name. We will have attendance prizes and a give away for every attendee which is why I need to know if you are coming!

In the meantime, think spring and I'll guarantee this rally will be here before you know it. Be part of the Forums tradition and be here for year 6 of this fun event.

Regards,

Jack

We're doing eastern Kentucky & Daniel Boone country right before. Will hit Moraine View on the way home! We lost both of our dogs this winter -- should have a new puppy or two to jump up on kids though. Thanks Jack.

We had a bully back in September but Amy had an allergy to him. Wasn't hard to rehome him, and it was a guy who built motorcycles in Wisconsin that drove here to get him.

Tiki is our all seeing eye.....

Here he is at the 2003 Moraine Rally trying to explain to Patty why his telescope was pointed at our trailer. Notice the expression on her face??? I'm not sure she was buying it.....something about trying to see a moon.......

Do you think flamingo-kid1 would give up their spot for Roger? We could show movies on the sides of his.... oops, that would melt it. Rog, we certainly hope you have time that weekend. I'm hearing rumors you don't really have a Bigfoot...

Nope

I am NOT giving up our spot. In fact, our spot will be new and improved.. I need to talk to Jack and Patty first. I had a brainstorm. (No that was NOT thunder)

Just building up the suspense, Bob... just building the suspense...

Hey, did I hear that Bigfoot is eligible for WBCCI membership now?

Just kidding...

Steve, our plan is to tow the Bigfoot with the little moho... that's what we bought it for... unfortunately, despite the best laid plans of mice and men, we just didn't have time to pull it together last year, and it we decided that just coming in the moho was better than not coming at all. Hopefully this year the trailer will be in attendance as well. Unless, of course, Tiki is still coming... (just kidding, Chris!)

Well Rog,

I thought that the class C looked pretty comfortable for the two of ya, but if ya need the space...then bring it on (Unless Tiki is coming I guess )!

Steve... some years ago, I was quite comfy sleeping in a hammock in the mountains slung between a couple of trees. Now, though, I enjoy the amenities of the Bigfoot... the 80" queen, the extra tall stand-up shower... and the Born Free is a very comfy commuter van.

Oh yeah....we have a very nice hammock that we love to relax in. We can fit about five people in it, and I have passed out many-o-times.
