2007 Moraine View Forums Rally
Well we are back again for our 5th annual rally. Lots of things have changed and other things remain the same. The kids are growing up, our dogs have gotten old, our Airstreams may have changed, but you and I remain the same......right!
While I have lots to do to get this all together, we need you to start reserving dates on your calendar, so put the red circle around June 8th, 9th, and 10th. Second weekend in June. Pretty much like we have done it in the past.
It's time to start the reservation process. Here is the link to the calendar which has the location, reservation form, and pictures. http://www.airforums.com/forum...9&day=2007-6-8
Remember this is a state park and you are responsible to make your own reservations. Reservations are on a first come first served basis. The park is holding no spots for us but when you make your reservation, they will attempt to keep us all in one area. This rally is open to everyone so if you are thinking about Airstreams and own something else, please consider coming. We welcome everybody!
I'll post additional information deeper into the thread as we develop the activities for the weekend. We will be doing campfires and movies, trailer tours, Saturday night pot luck and who knows what else. I'm still thinking about a theme so I'll pass that on as time goes by.
And a final reminder, I know this is to many a long way off, but it is important to make the reservation. If you cancel your reservation, the deposit will be returned less $5. So 5 bucks is a minimal risk to guarantee your spot!
Our sites will be in the P50, P40, P30, and A sections of the campground. You can reserve a specific site if you wish, but be sure to include alternate sites in your choice. Currently I have reserved 3 sites, P40, A8 and A7. Note that the movies, campfire, and pot luck seating will be in the A7-A6 area dependent upon weather and ground conditions.
Here is a link to the campground sites. http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt...mrvcampmap.pdf
Finally, while the dates of the rally are officially June 8, 9, and 10, you can come up earlier or stay later. Many of us head up there on Thursday, so you will seem many of us arriving on the 7th. Note that check in and check out is 3 PM. Those who don't want to make a reservation can still come to claim one of the many non reservable sites. My suggestion is that if you want to do this, get there Thursday or early Friday.
Let me know once you get your confirmation and your site number. I'll keep track of that info and post it on this thread. If you rather not want that information posted, let me know. I'll just post the site as being taken without your name. We will have attendance prizes and a give away for every attendee which is why I need to know if you are coming!
In the meantime, think spring and I'll guarantee this rally will be here before you know it. Be part of the Forums tradition and be here for year 5 of this fun event.
Regards,
Jack

Yah, but how would Eric stand a chance when the girl scouts are using their silver lariats of fire?
There are some things you'll never see unless you get to a rally!

A new thread will be started asking people to start signing up for a specific set of campsites -- that's pretty important because this is a large campground. Each Airstream attending will have to make their own reservations at the state park. Can't really do much until our block of campsites is set up.
Keep an eye on the rally calendar - http://www.airforums.com/forum...y=2007-6-8&c=1
The thread spoken about above will have a link on the calendar page in due time -- end of February? early March?

Yeah, everybody hold off on reservations until I get a chance to talk to the folks up at Moraine. I want to give you all the correct info to make sure they keep us all together. I'll be talking to them around the 1st of February and will post more info shortly there after.

new contact info
We have finally made the jump to Cable.. so if anyone tried to email us before, we forgot to change our contact info here at the forums.. but it's done now. It felt very strange giving up an 11 year old email address!

We're in!
Hi everyone,
We will be new to your gathering this year. We met Sue and Ike Eikelberg this past December and they have graciously invited to join this fun group. We are new to rallies so we will be looking for help. It sounds like great time and we are looking forward to it. I will be watching this thread for further information.

I'll be talking to the folks at Moraine this week. I'll let you all know what the arrangements are and that the weekend I'm planning is good with the park folks. The biggest thing to remember is that once we say go, you will need to get the reservations in. Last year between us and a church group, all the reservable spots were booked. While there are a lot of non-reservable sites available, you would need to get there on Thursday to acquire one of them. While the park will attempt to keep us together, anyone can rent a spot if they ask for a specific site. So nothing is being held out from the general public.
Jack
