Merlot? Shh-h-h
Georgia -- We all see parks with 'no alcohol' policies. Moraine View has had one ranger who's a bit more 'old Army' than most, so be sure and put your Merlot into a coffee mug or tupperware tumbler if you wish to get in the spirit. It's kind of like high school again, so we'll sing your praises if you get away with using a clear glass... or stemware even!

With flags the theme I've been toying around with a forums flag. While I won't have the finished product for the rally, I may have one or two prototypes with me. This one is not quite the size I want, but was more a test of material and colors and fabric finish. The guy making these for me asked me to try this out to see how it flies and how it holds up. The color of the logo, while being the same as the decals, didn't transfer as well to the white fabric so we will have to play with that.

Bring what latches you have and we'll wheel and deal :-)
You don't need to worry about us finding each other.. we'll all have a great time together.
You probably made a big mistake by telling people it's your birthday.

Georgia... you KNOW that Merlot would taste better at Moraine.
Kidnap Max and come along.

Looks like we may actually head up on Thursday as long as there is space for us. I will be serving cake and ice cream as long as I can find a place that sell ice cream nearby.
Jack and Clayton, are you following one another up to the area as it would be nice to have someone to follow.

Steve -- Moraine View is a belly button in the land that doesn't make itself visible from a distance. Get yourself to Le Roy on I-74 east of Bloomington. Turn north. Avoid going east or west on State 150. Print out a few mapquest.com pages on Le Roy at different scales for the area north of town. The paved roads are pretty skinny but it is hard to miss. Signs will point the way.

You are welcome to follow me up. I'll probably be on the road sometime between 11-noon. Let me know if that's a timeframe you can live with. We probably will make 2 stops on the way. One in Springfield for a bathroom stop and another as we get off the Interstate as we head east to LeRoy and I-74.

Jack,
I am sure that will be doable. My vacation starts at midnight Wednesday night, but can't pick the coach up in Rolla until around 8 AM. That puts me home around 1030 for loading all the supplies. I hope I can make haste and get the mission accomplished, but I am determined.
I don't know what way you will travel since you are going from Fenton, but I assume you will take 270 up to 55 North. I could meet you in the vicinity of 70/270 interchange.

Steve There is a rest area just after you get on 55 north from 270. Good place to meet. We are leaving about that time also.I think the Sorths are leaving then too. Jerry

It would be neat to have a long caravan pulling into Morraine. Since I won't be in the lead I won't be in control of stops, but the more the merrier in my book.

Steve, my preferred route is 270 to 255 and cross over to Il. from the Jefferson Barracks bridge. 255 intersects with I55 at the Collinsville exit. It beats fighting the 270 traffic going north. The last time I hooked up with some STL folks we met at the Illinois state rest area a few miles north of Troy Illinois on I55. It takes me a little more time to get from Fenton to that rest area that it would take you.
My suggestion is that we PM our cell phone numbers and agree on a rough time that we will pull out. From there I can call you when I'm ready to roll out. That way no one will be sitting too long at the rest stop.
Note that the 10 day forecast shows the weather as being hot. From what I can see it will be 96 in STL on Thursday and 92 up at Moraine. I guess we won't be needing a campfire for warmth. Be sure to bring a fan with you since you have no A/C.
Jack

Our plans are to also arrive on Thursday. We actually made reservations for then. As we're waiting for the camper repairs, the long awaiting part has arrived and I was told they would work on it Monday morning. It shouldn't be a major job for them at all. I was promised it would be ready to pick up Monday afternoon.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding us; my wife started out making us a flag for the rally but I think it’s more suitable using it as a banner. Now if I can figure out where and how to hang it!

travelling in a caravan
Who's coming down from the Wisconsin border, other than us? And on Thursday, too?

I would put two gromets into it and hang it on the front of the trailer OR from the end of your awning arm.

Actually, it has a dowel rod through the top of it. I plan on trying to secure it using that.

Never played cornhole, but I am an avid player of washers!
Will have a set handy this weekend too.
