Chi-town, Caryl... it's Chicago. Eric has a warped sense of place and time.
Looking forward to seeing you and the BaseCamp setup! I saw my first one at US Adventure RV last week in Davenport... it'll be fun to see one in use!

I was hoping to bring my 2 grandchildren along (4 years old). Do you by chance know if there is anything in or near the rv park where I can keep them busy?
Thanks

DNR says there are 4 playground areas. I don't recall playground equipment in the campground loops, but then I wasn't looking for it. The website says the picnic area has a sandy beach. There's only a boat ramp and dock at the campground.
Jack, when do the Airstream tours start? AM or PM? I just recall that there's time to get away during the day. I don't see hotLAVA or valhalla2go signed up this year -- that would have given a number of smaller children for playmates.

I will have my almost 3 year old with me. He loves to play and it will be nice to have other kids there for him to play with.

We will have our 3 year old grand-daughter with us this year. We will be trying to entertain her as well; however, she loves to play with other kids!
I've noticed that you are only a couple of sites from us!

** Airstream Parts **
I have a few left over parts from our Airstream-n days that I no longer want to keep. Hopefully someone will be interested in them at the rally this year. I have a wheel stand, flat stand, (for the hitch) and a front glass window out of a 1968 Safari that I have no reason to keep. I also have a couple of small table tops. I'll have them at the rally if anyone is interested in them.

Does anyone have recommendations for finding indoor winter storage in the Northern Illinois area? Close to the north 'burgs would be preferable. I am thinking summer but planning winter.

Caryl -- Look in the yellow pages under storage. You should be able to work with any place that does boat storage. We have a lot of those around here and full sized Airstream owners just about can't deal with their 8' wide doors and 7' garage door heights. Base Camp? This is when it's more than !

If I recall there was a playground near the shower house in the middle of the campground.
I don't know of any indoor storage at this point, but I do know of some outdoor storage that is secure with a 7-8 foot high fence.
It's in Northbrook, just north of "The Glen".

The place we store Luna at has some indoor storage, and it's very reasonable and secure.. we're in Rockford. It has a fence completely around the storage facility, plus the owners live on the premises.

We are enjoying our BaseCamp immensely. We think it rocks and take it on the road every chance we get. I have been having fun reading on the forum about the restorations, travels and issues that airstreamers talk about. We look forward meeting you.

Caryl, make your reservation as per the instructions on the rally page, and let me know what site you have been assigned. We will be looking forward to meeting you!

PM me if you need any mod done on your flag pole set-up. I can weld something if needed.

Thanks. I haven't even pulled it out of the box yet. I'll probably do it this weekend. I've got to get one more flag at this point also since the pole I bought can hold two.
I'll start the Saturday night potluck food post this weekend.
Also folks there is still room, so if you are interested it's time to get off the fence!
Jack

** Items up for grabbs **
These items will be up for grabs at the rally. I no longer want to keep them and if anyone is interested in any of them let me know. I'll have them with me at the rally and you can pick them up then. I'm not selling them I just simply want to give them to anyone who can use them.
1. Stand for the hitch
2. Wheel stand for the hitch
3. Two small table tops, one for a rounded corner and one small almost
square top.
4. One window ( 39X20.5 ) this is the front window off of a 1968 Safari
I wasn't able to attach a photo!

...I was reading this and it reminded me of a bumper sticker I saw recently about a man's missing wife & boat. He was offering a reward for the boat. Thought it was funny...now my wife can slap me! 0

soldiermedic,
I can make you a flagpole holder to go under your tongue jack out of scraps I have laying around...I'll check my stash and see what size pipes I have, then you'll just need to get the poles to insert into it.
How many flags do you want to fly?
