Thanks Steve, Misty and all your helpers for a super rally (our first). It was great to meet so many Airstreamers and put faces and stories on some of the names. Regret that we didn't meet everyone, but there were so many people and so little time and that's what future rallies are for. The gorgeous white sand beaches and crashing waves called to us everyday requiring a trip to the beach and time to fly a kite. Friday night at The Red Bar was fun. The weather cleared Saturday and we chatted with so many people, saw so many neat rigs, and acquired so many helpful tips. Saturday dinner was TOPS!

Sorry we missed Saturday breakfast (know it was great), but we needed to head out. Good thing we did. Got the Bambi in the garage and the rain came. Minutes later we were under storm warnings and the sirens were blaring. Hope that everyone had/has a safe journey home.

See you next time. Can't wait for Can Opener 2 next year! In the mean time we will head to the Georgia Rallies, and meet up with new Airstream friends in other locations!

......Cindi

sure looks like a load of fun. If there is anyway to do it a week earlier next year...Like Dec 28 weekend...the New Years is Tuesday...we would try really hard to make it. Our crazy school system makes us go back Friday the 4th.
Just checking

Back at work......

The weekend is over and I had to go back to work.

We got in late yesterday and so I was to pooped to post. We had a blast meeting all of you and catching up with the ones we know. The location was great, the weather held back for all the events planned and the beaches were perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better crowd of Forum Friends to show and we enjoyed all the foods for potluck and breakfast. Thank You all for a very enjoyable weekend - Hope to see you on the road again sometime this year.

Had a great time at this rally. Definitely worth the trip down. We arrived home around 7:30. Hit a patch of hard rain on the way, but TJ handled it like a pro. My voice in not back yet and everyone here at work is feeling sorry for me. They just don't know, but I had a wonderful time and would do it again today!

Thanks, Steve and Misty. It was great seeing everyone and meeting new friends! Several folks were asking when the North Georgia rally will be. It is scheduled for April 20-22 at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, GA. Ya'll come now, ya hear!

Thumbs up Devoman, you da man!

Well, as usual we didn't get started as early as planned so after stopping for dinner we made it home about 10:00 last night. We drove through some of the heavy rain but managed without any mishaps.

Roy, we were in your general vicinity when the rains came. We ate at a Shoney's in Phoenix City about 7:30 Eastern and when we came out is was pouring. Saw a couple of folks that didn't have the sense to slow down in the ditch along I-185 between Columbus and Lagrange with State Troopers by their sides.

Becki and I want to give a great big thanks to Steve and Misty for so much hard work organizing this event...and for coming up with the idea in the first place. We had such a blast and Jordan and Jonathan had so much fun playing with Brianna and Rick Saturday night at the potluck. That just goes to show that even when there is a small number of kids at one of these they can still have a ball.

We enjoyed Topsail Hill so much we are planning to go back Memorial Day Weekend for a return visit...anyone else up for a repeat!

Speaking of repeats, how would the MLK weekend sound for next year. That would allow those of us with kids in school an extra day to stay over and it wouldn't be so close to the holidays so we could have a break. It would also give Allen an extra day as well and Becki (Both in the school systems). When ever it is we are in for next year.

Again, thanks Devoman for a great rally experience. This was our first since purchasing our Airstream and actually being participants instead of day visitors like we have been in the past.

Oh yeah, Kathy, I think we may have to impose a rule next time that if you come to the Airstream Rally to stay at the rally you have to come with an Airstream not an SOB (I'm not referring to you Jeff) I mean you have to stay in an Airstream not stay in an SOB trailer. Jeff is definitely not an SOB. I think I'd better leave Kathy alone and quit while I'm ahead before I get myself in trouble.

Can Opener Rally

Wow! what a great time. Our first trip, our first rally and our first exposure to airstreamers and it was all wonderful. We really enjoyed meeting everyone and all the interesting conversatioins. We just booked reservations for the Georgia rally in April we hope lots of you will come. We spent last night in Fort Desoto near Tampa, what a nice park! So many campgrounds so little time. We are on our way back to Miami but already have something else to look forward to. Hope to see you all soon! Laura and Phil. Steve and Misty thank you so much for putting on such a great rally!

I just posted more photos. For some reason I couldn't get them to post under the thread so they are located in the rally photo section.

I like the MLK idea for 2008.

Pick a place/date soon so we can plan.

There has to be many more photos out there.

We are at St.Andrews in Panama City this Memorial Day week 2007
At campsite #30, on the water.
If anyone is in the area, stop by.
We bring the sailboat and jetskis if you have any kids.
(boaters license required for jetskis, and I will check)

May be tough to get a spot this late..but you can try a site off the water.

See y'all next year.

hi can openers...

dates for next year? how about we finish this one first!

there are still 6 of us here...

but my vote is for early early early in january...

it IS the opener right?

would not want to be the... 'leftovers rally' ?

great rally and nice 2 meet everyone...

so many folks and not enough time....

pics are great, but perhaps no one knows how to use their personal photo gallery?

if most of your pics are placed in the "member" photo gallery and a link in the thread...

we can find the photos easily and quickly...

without every single one needing to upload...

just to open the thread.

no the server won't crash from views...

but getting IN to the thread for a look, will take forever...

oh and the sun is out full force today!

cheers

I guess I'll have to check them out since I called at lunch and there are no vacancies at Topsail for Memorial Day Weekend...big surprise. I was afraid of that.

Rally On

2air is right...
Can Opener 2008 needs to be early to justify its name.

Venture Out is a lot like Topsail with concrete sites and full hook ups.
Camped there back in 1977, was concrete even then.
Almost full of full timers now, I think you can buy your lot.

St.Andrews has much more to offer for daily activities and atmosphere, but has water and power only, dump stations are located thruout campground.
Oh...and no cable TV, but you can drive tent stakes.

Checked, and they do still have a few sites at St.Andrews for the week.

Venture Out and St.Andrew info is for Memorial Day 2007, not hyping for the next Can Opener.

'Rally On' to those still enjoying the event...this is really just an intermission till next year.
Woodstock would be proud of y'all
Bet you have some great leftovers for supper!

Who won all the prizes?
Photos of Sunday breakfast?

Mo Ho's at Top Sail

4th thru 6th sounds like it would meet the legal requirements.

Just don't tell anyone if you get there in December and you could still join in,
Or leave and come rat back.

People

You know...There were so many people that I have met at the rally I have already forgotten who was who.I remember several but not all unless I were to see them again. So hard to remember that many times.I do remember most of you all though by your forum names.
I am pretty sure though most everyone(And then some)will be back to do this again. We probably had seen about 6 extra Airstreams that were either lurkers on the forum or just passed thru and joined in the festivities. It was great to see that.Even our SOB neighbors were invited in to join.
I wished I had the chance to see the raiders of the lost ark but the little one was getting tired.
Thanks for bringing the movie screen Nilesrob.I hope we meet up in the october georgia rally. You have to bring that screen to that one also. That thing is awsome.
It was so funny because people in the park were taking pictures of it and also stopped by to watch the movie. It does not get any better than that.

Thanks to all!

Thanks, Devoman for starting the ball rolling and keeping up with it as it gained momentum.

Thanks to all who participated. Sue and I had a great time (with Buffett and Gus too).

Drove just over 12 hours today to make it home. Not one mile on Interstate from Topsail to Ellijay GA. Great County, State and US highways, with very little traffic (until I got close to Carollton GA). Then I lost traction going up in my driveway and had to back down my hill into my neighbors drive and make another run at it. (Phew, the burning rubber from tires slipping on gravel...).

Special thanks to David Alan for lending me a drill when I needed to rivet my battery box back on. I had tools including bits, but no drill. Thanks again.
