I looked at a map, heading S95 I can get over to 84 towards Valdosa, is that road ok?

I 'm not sure I would save much distance?

Over this route, from Savannah GA to Destin is about 450 miles taking 95 to 10W.

Why does my maiden voyage need to be so complicated

Just looked up where your starting from...whew!
New York City right off the bat!
I really would take I-75/I-81 and avoid,
All the toll roads,
Philly,
Baltimore,
D.C.,
Richmond,
Charlotte,
and Atlanta!

So much faster and less stressfull.

Only Chattanooga needs both hands.

Lippets, I agree with everyone else here. I would avoid Baltimore, Charlotte and Atlanta at all costs. You could take I-81 down to just above Knoxville and pick up I-40 in Knoxville to I-75 to Chattanooga. It's about a 4-5 hour drive from the Virginia state line to Chatt-Town.

It will take you about 7-8 hours from Chattanooga to Panama City. Topsail is about 25 miles north of Panama. From Chattanooga, you would take I-59 down to B'ham then pick up I-65 to Montgomery, then 331 down to FLA.

What day are you coming through? I am thinking about going down on Wednesday or Thursday. If you come through Chatt-Town before I leave, you are welcome to park in my driveway.

I'm working on it. I might stay with my friend in Panama City and come up for Saturday, so I haven't made a reservation yet.

On another note, I would like to buy an Airstream sign from you, but would prefer to send you a check. Can you email your address to me at kposey@mccallie.org? I understand about waiting for the check to clear before making the sign, but I want one!!!!!

done! we'll put something in a crock pot. we could definitely peek in a trailer or 2 on saturday. i think we're going to that naval aviation museum one of the days, though.... and a quick trip to sea side, of course! wouldn't be a trip to Destin without seeing the Truman show again.

Ya'll shouldn't be afraid of Atlanta traffic! Just consider it part of the adventure...and make sure you avoid rush hour(s). Morning rush hour last from +-6:30 am 'till +-10:00 and afternoon rush hour last from +-2:00 pm 'till 7:00 pm!

Seriously, every trip I've made north (six so far) with the Airstream have been on Saturday morning and have all been through Atlanta's connector and the return trips have been either Sunday after dark or Monday (non-holiday) after dark. The only problem was one Saturday morning in July there was road construction that had the connector north bound closed for three hours and us sitting in one place for 2-1/2. Just listen to AM-750 before you hit town for traffic reports every 6 minutes to make sure that doesn't happen to you! Oh yeah, use the HOV lane, too.

Atlanta and Traffic

I used to deliver products via tractor trailer into the center city of ATL every day. When needing to change lanes, as was stated, having a signal on meant nothing to the speeding traffic. I kept the semi in my lane and weaved a little bit. This usually had the cars braking to see if I had lost control and I would slip into the lane I needed. Not always did this work, but it was a way to get the passing cars' attention. (NOTE: This is not meant as a recommendation of how to manuver your A/S in ATL !!!)

OK, while Clancy Boy is on the Nashville I-65 thread trying to respond, I'll let ya'll know I unexpectedly found someone that would swap around and free up my schedule. I'm going to rally with ya'll in January. I've booked site 141 and I'm definitely looking forward to being there.

But DON"T TELL CLANCY BOY! He's on "triple secret probation"!

Tell Tina Mom will be there with Sonja in tow, well, we're not sure who tows whom in that situation. She is really looking forward to it. Here she is a Florida native and has never been in the panhandle. We will be coming into Topsail Tuesday night, explore the area for a couple of days, then settle in for the rally. Looking forward so seeing everyone again, and some new faces too.

So Daisy got her private coach, huh . . . . what a glamour child, spoiled rotten!
