Lightbulb Pulling the airstream with a bicycle...

For those of us entering and exiting to the north, Trick 2.1a is to have enough gasoline to make it from the last gas station and back, assuming that it is possible to get stuck in a five hours of playa urban traffic with a severe case of BM decompression syndrome. We squirted out onto the highway in about 30 minutes, but the extra gas can lowered my anxiety about pulling the rig with a multicolor, flag flying, wing sporting, playa cruising bicycle. It was just too hot for that kind of showing off.

ok, there is clearly not enough smack talk going on here.

We did the whole getting excited thing....
then the engineering thing....
then the how to engineer thing...
then more of the engineering thing, with a slight gestapo flare
then where to park
then when to park
where to advertise our totally cool camp
where to place things
how to rope off our private playa
then we talked about the exodus and how long it takes to get off the playa.

As I read along, I am equally into the whole thing - I love organization.
then...it hit me. I have been to the Burn many times. Here is how that is really going to roll....
Wavey lines....Wavey lines....

First off....I'm rolling out of the Walla with my ass hanging out the window. Yes, I'm going to sing along with the radio all the way there and the crowd is going to love me. I'm gonna be stoked and ready to have some big time fun.

I'm going to get a overwhelming feeling of home when I see the dust rising off the playa - a homecoming.

I'm going to tell the greeter how cool my Bambi is as they look for stow-aways. I will remind them it is all original and it all works. Airstream rocks. I'm going to leave them excited to get on airforums and get them one, and to visit our fly camp.

My gang and the Bambi... and the Donk... and my flatbed with the field kitchen with dual 10X20 awnings, bikes, and PA system, & cases of booze (if I can get someone to tow it) - all my fun extra **** are going to roll into that playa and shake all that **** up along with all the other 40,000 burners. Hope your ready for that. I probably won't park strait, but I will try. I will set up the PA first and announce to the camp that my sorry ass is in camp.

During the night we will probably have some hippie from Oregon set up their PVC dome right in the middle of our camp and his morbidly overweight girlfriend is going to sunbath nude all day-everyday- and wave at us with great enthusiasm. (that happened to me last year - no lie) Some of you may not like it - I know you wont...but we will have the best performance art at the Burn. I will roll with it (pardon the pun) knowing that isn't something you are going to see everyday and celebrating the freedom - crazy.

As for Exodus, I usually get up early (dark) and roll out with no issues. Sure, I'm going to wake your ass up with all my crazy singing and PA playing something like Sinatra, yelling when I drop something on my foot, and generally causing havoc - then we will be off and having coffee somewhere shy of Alteras. Since I roll North to the Walla, once I make a right turn before Gerlach I have a empty road all the way home to reflect.

We got a short period of time to let go. I'm going to let go, I deal with all this structure all the time - we all do. I hope you all grant yourself the license to let go...please. I never do, I need to more and so do you.

ok - I expect some crazy fun responses - I wanna laugh and get ready for the Burn now.
ok...
ready
set...
GO!!!

Yeah, we're working work work work to be able to escape back home to BM.
I still haven't been able to post on my home computer since this latest great upgrade on Airforums. Why is Vista such a dang hassle in so many things?

So Chopperpilot, I take it that an early morning ethanol fueled low hover armchair rendevous or three isn’t out of the question? Nothing like sun up to fire up the blender.

Oh how I miss my crazies...

*crawling toward the playa ferrying heavy loads*

so looking forward to sharing an ice cold
and tasteful silver shot glassful
sitting in the dust
with y'all.

Or maybe an Otter Pop.

I don't know if you remember me;last year I went to the Burnstream camp and met you and the young couple from Nevada. I am Charlie M from the Nevada Unit of the WBCCI. This year once again I'll be with some friends in SOB's and we generally park around 7:30 & H.

Question, do you know where the Burning Man Rally Airstreams will park this year? I'll stop by and say hi.

NevadaGeo: Brother, I know your issues - Im in IT. My users use XP, Suse Linux, OS-X, Windows Server, AIX....and of all those 300 operating systems...some are better than others. It will get better over time, maybe with their new version? Look at me being positive and not taking a dump on Microsoft. Good boy...sit...good boy.
The best - tell yourself whatever you have to...is Apple OS-X, Suse Linux and AIX. UNIX - Live Free or Die.

Major: Sir, blender rotor RPM - check. Nothing like gettin' light on the skids first thing in the morning.
It's that shutter - think back...aluminum has its own subtle harmonic vibration - the ever so rhythmic song of the helo as it purrs, the fast articulation of the tail roter waving at me through my pedals - boom bobbin wondering why the hell we are still sitting here on the ramp - lets go already. Sun shining, OAT great, gauges green - loose those doors. Blackrock Tower, Helo bravo oscar oscar zulu echo is at the playa requesting a low level exit on a heading of 112 - checking out the nude chicks over at the Deep End. We are ready to roll and I know its a no movement area. This blender comes equipped with a autorotate option - don't worry, we'll be ok in the event the generator runs out of fuel.

We should bring a helo chassis - something like a old school huey, put is on the playa - make it our fort. We can get a gang together and go to adventures unknown.

A helo art car that steers with the cyclic, collective and pedals....that would be SICK! It would be a moving fort then. We could do air assaults into playa-hot LZs.

Hey Charlie...sure I remember you.

C'mon by and say hi...or have some tasty food and refreshing beverages.

I think we are attempting to squat at around 2:30-3:30ish and E-ish.
(correct me if I've veered off course oh esteemed map-o-phyles)

Compadres!
Hey, I just heard from a friend that my post concerning getting ready for the burn sounded negative and angry - I believe the quote was...."I think he has lost it"
WOW - what a jolt. I was totally excited, jazzed up, and so excited to get going when I wrote it - not one negative thought in sight. I was totally into our plans, its exceptional engineering and nerds like me are all over that. I have my own technical drawings (to scale) of my own camp too.

I was so very excited about what had gone on to this point and tried to make a point about "letting go" - hopefully helping someone else wrapped up in the day to day details accomplish the same. I don't let go - never. Man, do I need to... I'm wound way too tight.
I hope I didn't offend anyone, it was not my intent. Millions of comedians out of work and there I was trying to be funny - I should stick to my day job. I'm just ready to party like a rockstar with my homies.

ok - lets resume the party...
ready
set...
GO!!!!

So, sorry dudes. I will be a little more careful with my slang and craziness.
