Weber Grills and the Airstream LP Quick Connect Port

I've been chasing down solutions for connecting a Weber Grill to the Airstream LP Quick connect port, by engaging with Weber Customer Support on the phone. I discovered a few items I would like to share. Perhaps this is common knowledge already but one never knows.
  • Weber and Airstream no longer have a partnership
  • Weber did make a Q1200 Titanium w/RV HOSE that came with a 12' long quick connect hose. Model number 51060299. It came with the quick connect regulator on the grill. However, they do NOT manufacture these anymore. So if you see one on the aftermarkets, get it...or let me know, send me the link!
  • Regarding the fancy new Weber Traveler, beware! There are two models out there. Model number 9010001 does NOT have the RV Quick Connect compatibility. However, model number 9011701 DOES have the RV Quick Connect Compatibility and it comes with a 12' long LP hose.
  • The Weber Traveler (both models) weighs 47 pounds! Yikes!
  • The Weber Traveler RV Edition (model 9011701) can only be ordered by phone from Weber directly.
  • The Weber Traveler RV Edition only comes in black.
  • The Weber Traveler RV Edition costs us$429

Hi,

You may already be aware, but the lowest cost approach is to get the standard Q1200 and a conversion kit on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

Under $300 all in.

Hey, Tyler. Thank you for the quick reply. I did see this link in another thread. It looks to me that this solution has the quick disconnect on both ends. What I do not quite understand, is where the female side connects to the Q1200, and where is the regulator valve?

I do have the Q1200. But my regulator valve only has the female thread to connect to a 1lb tanks (very inefficient) or connect to a regular 20 lb tank.

Hi,

You remove the regulator from the grill for this conversion. Your LP is already regulated coming out of the low pressure port on the trailer. The male quick connect fitting gets screwed onto the tube where the regulator used to sit. Sorry the picture is a little dark.

You can also put a female quick connect on the old regulator to still be able to use 1lb bottles if you desire.

Another one, although this one does not show the hose. Part number is correct but I would call and ask them first.

Here's what you'd need to be able to use the old regulator for 1lb bottles:

1/4" NPT x 1/8" NPT brass nipple

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...1?ie=UTF8&th=1

1/4" quick connect

OK OK OK, now I see how this can be done. There is hope after all. I will give this a try, then. Thank you, Tyler 👍

You're welcome! The most difficult part is getting the regulator unscrewed from the supply tube on the grill. Make sure you support the tube when you start twisting on the regulator. Also, use some yellow sealant tape, check for leaks, and all will be good

I bought a Weber Traveler before there ever was an Airstream edition and have just been using it with 1lb propane tanks. Do you only need to get the right quick connect hose for it to work with airstream propane outlet or is there more to it?

We are upgrading to the magma crossover. I have a Weber Q with the quick connect hose 12’ if interested. Getting ready to list it on Facebook marketplace.

Should be the same process as the Q1200, but I don't have one to verify. Remove the regulator, install a 1/8" NPT to 1/4" NPT brass nipple, thread on a 1/4" male quick connect and you're ready to connect your hose.

Torjik makes a ready to go kit which should guarantee compatibility:

There is something to be said for remaining untethered to the trailer. We thought about that conversion, but decided to use small, refillable containers instead. Which means we can haul the BBQ along to the beach for a picnic, move it out of the sun or the wind and use it at a neighbor's campsite for a get together, All in all, more versatile.

This is true, however, check out Tyler2You's post number 8 above...there is a solution for having it both ways.

I am trying to get the regulator off a Weber Q1000. It doesn’t want to come off easily and I am afraid that I will break something. Are there any tricks that I should know? Thanks

I love my Weber grill I purchased and put a conversion kit on Igor the airstream. I followed their video and did it without an issue. They even sell it with a way so you can still use the propane bottles if you want to. The company is Calore equipment. Anyone can make this easy mod.

Forget the grill. Get a 16 or 22 inch Blackstone griddle from WAL-MART and you will never go back. You can cook everything in the griddle that you did on the grill plus more breakfast, eggs, pancakes, etc. Conversion hose and quickcoupler from Amazon.
