Angry Tank Monitor Upgrade?

I am beyond annoyed by using the antiquated tank reader we have in our Airstreams. They could have just used a different display so that at least you can see tank levels without pressing on them, or add a visual / audible alarm when you reach 95% or so.

The constant anxiety of checking 3 times a day where you are at is painful.

Has anyone upgraded the monitor to something better?

SeeLevel sells an upgraded unit that has bluetooth connectivity. Perhaps this would suit your needs, and I would imagine that it's plug-and-play.

Hi

The SeeLevel units (at least the modern ones) will interface over a serial bus to most of the fancy control / display gizmos. They likely would also talk to a PC / RPi or Arduino. As long as you don't mind fiddling a bit, the options for display and alarms are near endless.

The difficulty is installing the SeeLevel sensors.

Hi

At least most (if not all) modern Airstreams already have the SeeLevel sensors and interface on them. That's even true of the "fancy" stuff with the touch panels and displays. All they do is hook into what appears to be the same setup everybody has.

If by modern you mean 2015 and newer (which I see all of you have).

Compared with tank level indicators previously in Airstreams, the SeeLevel is anything but antiquated. I suspect the reason they do not continuously give a readout is to avoid battery drain. Even a Bluetooth connection will probably require that you ask it to show the levels.

I think getting to know your system is better than a monitor. I have the old style which isn't all too accurate. But I don't find it to be a problem.

If I'm camping with hook ups, the grey tank valve stays open until the last 24 hours. Then it's closed to build up a bit for the flushing at the dump station.

If I'm boondocking, the tanks can't back up because the grey and waste tanks hols more than the fresh water tank.

For me, it's just not a problem. YMMV.

I guess it’s all relative. Most other RVs have the LEDs to indicate 1/3, 2/3, Full with the internal tank sensors that work for about 3 nanoseconds before failing. I’m happy to have the SeeLevel system. Pushing the buttons counts towards my daily workout.

I have the micro-pulse on my classic 27fb. The grey water tank sensor does not show. Is there an access point to change this sensor?
