Tank issue/question for new 25fb

I'm still getting to know our new 25fb. I was crawling around underneath the AS yesterday, and I have a couple of questions.

The black and grey tanks are covered with a sheet metal box. The fresh water tank is not...I don't think. That is my first question: is this black "tank" a cover or is this the actual tank? See picture

Second question: there is a hole where the dump valve handle extends into the tank cover. It seems road spray could get into the tank cover and I don't see a way for any trapped water to get out. I wondering if I should put a couple of drain holes in the tank covers. In theory that cover could hold a lot of water.

I had one more tank question. Thought I would put it here to bump my original question as well.

The fresh water tank is right over the dual axles. I assume this means carrying fresh water will not effect my tongue weight??

I don't have the knowledge of new Airstreams that will allow me to answer your first questions.

But the last question about the fresh water tank not affecting tongue weight I can.

The tank being directly above the axles will mean that tongue weight will only be effected very marginally by tank contents. I would say five or ten pounds at a maximum.

I can't comment about the newer trailers either, but my freshwater tank sits between the tandem axles. It's especially evident since the drain valve is present. If you can find your drain valve you will identify the position of your tank. Technically that weight is on the axles based on a mid tandem tank,
