Switchover Regulator - Is this normal?

When I bought my Classic 30 Slideout 2 years ago I went to refill one of the propane tanks. As I had done with my Safari 25, I set the valve to the other tank, pulled the empty tank and had it refilled. When I disconnected the hose from the empty Classic 30 tank, there was a steady hiss of propane coming out of the hose. I had to turn off the other tank to stop it. I thought this was wrong, so I replaced the regulator. If I tested the new one, I don't remember the result.

A few days ago I wanted to pull a tank to get it refilled. Same problem on the new regulator. Am I mistaken that I should be able to set the valve to the other tank and disconnect the empty tank?

No, not normal, but, perhaps not unusual. Try tapping lightly on the regulator.

Thanks. I found the manufacturer and they say I should be able to disconnect the empty tank without leaks. The regulator has a 5 year warranty, but I bought it from Amazon. This is one of those things where the manufacturer will not honor a warranty from Amazon. It was a hassle to find out who the seller was as they quit selling them on Amazon and the current listed seller is not the one I bought it from. After digging around on the Amazon website I finally found out how to speak to customer service. They put me in touch with the original seller and a new regulator is on the way. It was a hassle, but at least there is a happy ending.
