Quick Connect for grill

Planning on installing a 1/4 inch quick connect on my exposed 3/8 gas line that feeds my furnace. I will be using to eliminate propane canisters. I will be using for my Coleman combo stove/grill which has its own regulator. Concerned about gas pressure to operate the grill. Should this work

Honestly, it may not work at all.

The Coleman regulators expect propane input at tank pressures, about 100 pounds or more per square inch.

The propane system on the Airstream runs at 11 inches of water—-about 1/2 pound per square inch. That’s not enough pressure to get the Coleman regulator to flow any gas.

If the Coleman regulator can’t be bypassed, you are better off connecting a tee fitting to the propane tank directly and adapting to the Coleman stuff there.

As the previous poster points out it won't work. You will need to convert your Coleman combo stove/grill to a low pressure grill and bypass the pressure regulator on the Coleman.

Most stoves have a low pressure kit which you can find online for your specific stove. I have a Weber Q1000 grill and found the proper kit online at Amazon. It was about a 10 minute job to do the conversion and get it working with the low pressure quick connect point on the front of the Airstream trailer.

It may be that the regulator hose for the grill connects with a 3/8" flare fitting. If so, parts can easily be sourced to connect the grill directly to the trailer's low pressure system.

Rather than tie into the trailer plumbing which is regulated to .5 psi that is too low for most grills get a propane splitter from Amazon. The splitter will mount on the bottle while the trailer connects to one outlet your grill connects to the other, the splitter automatically stops flow when your grill is disconnected. I have a 10 foot hose that I connect between splitter and grill, this allows me a lot of options for placement in different campsites and weather. There are no permanent mods to trailer and these accessories can be used on your next trailer.

I too took off the grill regulator. With it on, I could barely get it to light, let alone produce any heat to cook with. After removing the regulator and connecting the propane hose up directly to the grill burners, it works perfectly every time. Be sure to use tapered thread adaptors for propane.

Q2000

I took off my regulator for my Weber Q2000 grill. I fit a female quick release with a valve, and use a 12 foot and 6 foot hose connected together (if needed) with a quick release. I had to get a couple of pipe fittings to convert to the correct diameters. The hose has male quick release connectors on both ends. Works great. I don’t think the hose and propane pressure would work on a larger grill. Make sure to use yellow gas Teflon thread tape.

Thanks for your suggestions. Low flow was my concern.

A good place to find the stuff you need to make the conversion is https://propanegear.com/.

Is the quick disconnect and the shut off valve 1 or 2 separate pieces?

This is what I use:

https://www.rvpartscountry.com/rv-90-propane-tee.html

You will need a hose that would connect a disposable cylinder to your Coleman regulator.

rvpartscounty has more propane fittings than one could ever imagine.

I made an adaptor to connect to my quick connect... but also to give me the flexibility to use tanks when I needed to. Here are the details, all laid out:
