Propane gas leak and new guide book

Last April, one of my 8-year old OEM propane gas pigtails had a leak detected by my nose and located by spraying it with soapy water. In the process of replacing the hoses, I found that they come in various sizes and with varying regulator end fittings (inverted flare versus MNPT male pipe thread). I found that the best way to get the correct replacement is to take the old pigtail hose to a local RV supply store for a correct match.

This job is one of many routine tasks covered in the new book, Airstream Life's (Nearly) Complete Guide To Airstream Maintenance by Rich Luhr.

For additional information and photos, see "Propane gas leak and summer reading," History Safari Express.

This is the follow on companion book to the Airstream Newbie book Richard Luhr wrote and is included in every new Airstream folio case. It is a great reference.

I actually have two copies of his first book. Keep one in the house for quick reference. Been looking forward to the new one for several months. It will arrive early next week.

Exactly the book I was hunting for

Took our 2014 EB to the dealer a few weeks ago to get some repair work done (our fault) but also had a list of what we considered to be warranty work. When we picked it up the repair guy went through our list and kept saying "We did this as a complimentary fix blah blah..." and I finally grokked to the fact that this was just simple maintenance stuff that we should have been doing.

We wondered "How would we (newbies) know to do this stuff?" The briefcase comes jammed with merchant documents that it takes a year to sort through (still haven't) and I wondered why there wasn't a basic maintenance manual that came with the AS.

Went hunting and found Rich Luhr's (at that time unreleased) book on Amazon. Followed all the threads and pre-ordered. Got it last week and couldn't possibly be more excited about reading it cover to cover.

(Nearly) Complete Guide to Airstream Maintenance - Airstream Life store

Thanks Rich, for giving us the book that Airstream should have had the foresight to create, but didn't.

Regarding a digital version of the new maintenance book, I wrote the publisher earlier in the week, and received a prompt, courteous response. This newer Luhr book will be available in the iBooks store in the next few weeks according to Airstream Life. It wasn't available for pre-order when I looked a day or two ago.

That is great news!!! I will get "on the list!!!!"

With my vision handicap I use a "reader" for Text-to-voice.... A lot.

Update!!!!!!!!
I just found the link !!! It is near bottom of the Airstream store link above!

I successfully downloaded and I can use the "speak" function!!!!!
