Propane Extension Hose for Generator

I have been having an incredibly difficult time finding a propane extension cord/hose (3-5 feet or so) that I can use with my propane generator so that I don’t have to remove the shell around the tanks. Attached is what should normally connect to the tank (and it works fine when I do so). But I’m looking for a hose that would connect from the tank to this piece that goes to the generator. In short, I’m just trying to extend the normal tank connection by 3-5 feet.

Amazon is turning up a huge number of different pieces and Ace Hardware hasn’t been sufficiently helpful.

Also, I should note that I’ve connected it via the quick connect valve on the tongue but unfortunately it doesn’t put out enough volume of LPG and the generator just sputters. If anyone has a fix for that, I’m all ears!

Thank you in advance!!

Thanks. I can’t be the first person who has wanted to simply extend the location of their tank connection. I have to believe there’s a hose out there and I’m just looking at the wrong things. (I mean, as much as I want to believe that I always search for the right things.)

You would need to change the quick connect fitting to a larger size. This is from the FAQ on Genconnex's website:

"Can I run two EU2200i’s at the same time from my camper’s 1/4” propane quick disconnect?Yes, if the connector is only a few feet from the tank and if you are just using the two to start a 12,000 or 14,000 BTU A/C unit that normally run at approximately 1600 Watts once started. No, if you want to run both generators in total above this power for any length of time or have your 1/4” quick disconnect more than a few feet away. In this case you should have your line upgraded to 3/8” i.d. with a 3/8” quick disconnect installed and or use our 12’ x ⅜” dual output hose with our ¼” to ⅜” adapter."

I second the recommendation to contact Hutchmountain.

I have their extension hose, with adapters, to connect to the LPG port on the trailer tongue, together with the appropriate regulator. Our Honda eu2200i works great with this set up.

This is what i was sent from Champion for my Dual fuel 3400.
Unfortunately we do not sell an extension kit. Below is a link of the part required to extend you LPG hose.
Here is a link to the parts required on amazon https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/TXNB1SWETOFC

THE GENERATOR REQUIRES ½ PSI AND A FLOW RATE UP TO 76,000 BTU/HR WHEN UNDER FULL LOAD.

Another possible site to get what you need is https://propanegear.com/promo/. The front page has a banner that says "We build custom hoses Fittings, lengths, multiples.. you name it, we make it".
I bought some fittings and hose for my Blackstone from them. Best price I could find at the time and 2 years on, still in good shape.

Go in line and search for a "Rubber & Hose Supply" store. They all make up a proper hose size/length and the correct hose connections. They make up all type of hoses for different kinds of uses. I have purchased hoses for propane, tractor hydraulic hose, etc

It is not a difficult issue......just stay away from the big box stores like ACE, Home Depot, RV stores, etc.

JM, will the grill hose extension work? I've got one that works for my Onan 2500 set.

Go to Lowe’s, in the BBQ department they sell extension hoses where the regulator is not anywhere close to where you’ll attach to the main tanks, and it works exactly how you want it. I think it was $21.

I'll second this idea. I used an old BBQ hose that came with my now abandoned grill.

I think that would be perfect! I’m now intrigued about upgrading my quick connect, though, to see if I can just run it all through there. But if that’s going to take any significant work, I’m going to order what you sent!

I run a 6,300 Yamaha generator on a tongue quick disconnect. I bought a HD Marshal-Mercator (Merc) automatic changeover and replaced the OEM regulator (nonHD). No volume problems now. If you look at the specs you will see the overall size is the same, but the regulator is designed to handle much higher outputs, especially during change over when the selector has not been switched to the full tank, but changeover has occurred.
